Position Summary:

PG&E is seeking an Agile Coach, Principal to drive the Agile transformation across the organization by leveraging such frameworks including Scaled Agile (SAFe), Scrum and Kanban. This person will drive organizational agility using strong Lean Portfolio Management, Agile delivery knowledge, Agile life cycle management tools and experience working with leadership and teams to coach and facilitate the adoption of an Agile mindset. This member will serve on the Lean Agile Center of Excellence and will be the IT subject matter expert on implementing Lean Portfolio Management and transforming the org towards agile. This individual will be a need to deliver SAFe training such as Lean Portfolio Management, Leading SAFe, SAFe for Teams, SAFe for PO/PM and agile related workshops to help ready Values Streams and Agile Release Trains.



  • Coaches IT leadership to establish agile strategy through implementation: Lean Portfolio Management, Value Stream development, Agile Release Trains and team level agility
  • Conduct training for executives, managers and leaders, development teams, and specialty roles such as Product Owner, Product Manager, Scrum Master and Release Train Engineer.
  • Identifies opportunities for the organization to improve agility and application of agile values and principles to help accelerate the delivery of value
  • Coaches Scrum Masters, Product Owners and teams on how to effectively apply agile values, principles and practices.
  • Leads and coordinates teams to develop and implement service solutions for complex service issues
  • Establish Communities of Practice and grow existing employee development programs that support employee onboarding, knowledge transfer, employee development and leadership development as it pertains to Agile roles
  • Identifies the developmental needs of leaders, coaches and standard agile roles, and creates a plan to improve their knowledge or skills to grow the organization with Agile
  • Define and measure meaningful Agile metrics including Team Health and Maturity, Delivery and Performance and Business Outcomes that show the progress


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies Desired:

  • Competency in establishing Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), conducting LPM training and Value Stream Mapping workshops – ready the leadership to transform to agile
  • Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, inside and outside the organization
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Competency in building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
  • Ability to influence and lead behavior change
  • Competency in effectively building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization
  • Knowledge of Agile software development principles, values, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
  • Competency in applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization goals
  • Knowledge of Agile software development principles, values, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, practices and tools to support an implementation
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) and/or Lean Portfolio Management certification



Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Experience Minimum: Job-related experience, 9 years

Experience Desired: Experience as Agile Team Coach, 5 years
