Department Overview

Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Marketing department is responsible for the planning, development and execution of marketing activities that drive customers’ overall experience and participation with PG&E products and program offerings. Products and programs include safety and emergency preparedness, residential and business rate education, energy efficiency, income qualifying programs, clean energy transportation among others.


Position Summary

As an Expert Marketing business analyst on the Marketing Operations team, you will be the day to day point of contact for managing marketing data. You will leverage multi-channel marketing data and work with strategy partners to tell our marketing story with data. You will bring to life data visualizations (Datorama) that identify marketing optimization opportunities.


The successful candidate is exceptional at building working relationships and will be challenged to do so in a mostly remote work environment. Partners will include marketing strategy, product and program teams, and agency partners. Advanced presentation and communication skills are necessary.


You will demonstrate the ability to problem solve and will be willing to dive into details to understand data discrepancies and harmonization. Additionally, you should be well-versed with the setup of marketing campaigns and helps ensure those potential data gaps are covered before a campaign is in market.


Lastly, this role will have exposure to marketing technology products such as Adobe Analytics and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. With previous experience or training when in the role, this individual will identify ways to best leverage technology to measure marketing effectiveness.


The position will work from your home office. When a safe return to the office is identified, occasional visits to the office may be required pending business needs.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver multiple, simultaneous projects working cross-functionally with marketing strategy and operations, creative agencies, and internal IT and other business partners.


  • Utilize Datorama to produce dashboards that inform weekly, monthly, and annual business planning and decision-making.
  • Expert in data integrity and hygiene with a key responsibility to validate data, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency in near real-time.


  • Collaborate with marketing strategy partners to review marketing effectiveness and apply findings to optimize in-market activity.


  • Must be willing to be on-call, including nights, weekends, and holidays, on a rotational basis, as a member of the Public Information Office staffing the Emergency Operations Center.



  • 6 years of related work experience and/or leveraging data to inform business decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Science or Business, Finance, Economics or related discipline or equivalent work experience  



  • Previous work experience in Marketing Analysis
  • Datorama Admin and/or Power User certifications.
  • Strong understanding of extract, transform, and load processes, data models and APIs.
  • Experienced in SQL, relational databases, and work with large, complex data sets.
  • Proven ability to foster trust and collaborative partnerships with colleagues and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to distill complex processes in simple terms and adept at creating data visualizations.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and measuring key performance indicators.
  • Experience with Marketing Technology applications such as: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Analytics, and Tealium AudienceStream.
  • Deep understanding of marketing channels, including email, social media, search engine optimization, and display advertising campaigns.
  • Experience in Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer marketing.
  • Understanding of how to leverage marketing stack for journey optimization and personalization.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a dynamic environment and successfully manage changing priorities.
