Department Overview

The Reporting Manager is part of the Corporate Accounting Department.  The department oversees the delivery of timely, accurate, and relevant financial data and analysis to support strategic decision making and compliance with financial reporting requirements.

  

The work of this high profile team will provide the successful candidate with challenge and variety as well as exposure to key individuals throughout the company.

 

Position Summary

The Reporting Manager is a high-profile position and ideal for a candidate who enjoys a fast-paced and challenging work environment.  We are looking for a strong leader who will develop and maintain key relationships and execute on a vision to enable the group to perform in line with a world-class accounting department.  This position provides an excellent overview of both the company and the utility industry and opens the door to many other opportunities within PG&E. 

 

This role reviews and provides guidance/coaching on external reporting and technical accounting.  The successful candidate will lead the reporting team, coach junior employees and provide thought leadership to Corporate Accounting.

 

Corporate Accounting plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of PG&E's financial information.  You will work with an awesome team that is agile, motivated, dedicated and skilled.  Corporate Accounting works with many stakeholders throughout PG&E to maintain effective oversight and understanding of the Company’s revenue.

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for managing the monitoring and development of monthly reports and providing record of assets, liabilities and/or other transactions:

  • Manages quarterly SEC and regulatory filings and annual benefit plan filings
  • Reviews and coaches team to interpret policies, reporting requirements, rules and regulations
  • Provides guidance to direct reports in the process of researching and resolving issues.  May also lead the resolution of more complex accounting / disclosure issues.  Ensure timely communication of issues to interested parties (e.g., Director, Legal).
  • Cross functional collaboration with Investor Relations, Legal, and other business partners to prepare cohesive external communications
  • Applies advanced concepts in research, approach design and analysis on impacting accounting issues
  • Advises and consults Senior Management on complex issues
  • Identifies and implements process improvements at the department level (e.g., efficiencies gained by aligning work streams).
  • Manages and contributes to the department and company metrics to improve processes and understands / translates financial impacts.
  • Manages process improvement projects to reduce risk and create efficiencies  
  • Leads and manages team of direct reports
  • Sets department goals and establishes an environment to achieve those goals
  • Drives performance by setting goals and development plans, conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing feedback to direct reports

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years experience of relevant accounting experience
  • Management experience with an ability to manage staff and programs
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC requirements

Desired:

  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with senior management.
