Senior Information System Analyst, Finance Application Services


Department Overview

PG&E's dynamic Finance Application Services (FAS) team ensures that all finance systems are operational, managed and effective to support the needs of a dynamic finance organization. The team is also responsible for driving structured improvements into finance processes and systems via large scale multi-year projects and small enhancements released on timed schedule.

Position Summary

This position will liaise with IT, Accounting, and Tax departments to provide end-user and systems support for the PowerPlan Suite including Fixed Assets, Lease, and Tax Modules. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, accounting and asset lifecycle knowledge, and financial information systems implementation experience. You will collaborate with IT and business partners to develop project plans, gather business requirements, develop functional specifications, develop test plans, lead testing efforts, support go-live activities, and develop and deliver training to end-users.


This position is crucial in providing timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting. A successful candidate understands the current and future business environment of the organization and effectively anticipates, identifies, and meets the business needs. 



Job Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing end-user and system support for Accounting, Tax, and Reporting applications
  • Create, maintain, and improve upon key reports using Business Warehouse, Analysis for Office, PowerBI, Core Data Services Views, Web Intelligence
  • Identify, propose, and influence solutions to moderate-to-complex business problems
  • Anticipate business partners’ concerns and questions and provide timely and professional client-focused communications
  • Identify and implement business process or system improvements with efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability in mind.  This includes understanding current state business and system processes, recommend changes, and address change implications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years’ experience supporting Asset Accounting, Tax Applications, SAP Financials or equivalent Financial Systems
  • Experience in process improvement implementations, report maintenance and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerPlan Suite or similar Asset Accounting / Tax Software
  • Experience in Utility industry
  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Effective problem solver with strong verbal/written communication and facilitation skills
  • Big 4 Experience
  • Project management experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
