Position Summary

The role of the IT Mobile Product Specialist, Expert is to manage mobile device from intake to deployment. Major responsibilities include evaluate device request and approval, collaborating with key business stakeholders in project device deliverable, partner with finance and planning analyst for accurate budget forecast, contract and vendor management, capacity management, collaborate with LOB for future device needs and roadmaps. The successful candidate will oversee all Mobile device intake process and continue to improve operational process and streamline the onboarding of mobile users.


Job Responsibilities


  • Assesses Mobile (iPads & Rugged) Device requests, client hardware requirements and work with clients and other team for successful delivery.
  • Work with governance teams to ensure all requests align with their Mobile roadmap.
  • SPOC for PG&E Mobile vendors. Work with Sourcing to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  • Partner with Cell Carrier billing team to ensure all Mobile lines are billing properly and update as needed.
  • Assesses and report on project performance using established industry standards.
  • Works in collaboration with project leads and project teams to develop and maintain project schedules and monitor cost status and forecasts.
  • Manage financial progress and forecasts. Communicate any financial changes or impacts to stakeholders and obtain authorization for budget underruns, overruns, or changes to estimates using project change request process and appropriate software.
  • Create, maintain, and update monthly forecast budgets
  • Use the cost and work plan to determine if project objectives are achievable. Adjusts project scope, with project sponsor approval, and schedule as appropriate to accommodate change
  • Define resource needs, obtain commitments, and communicate to all stakeholder on project progress.
  • Clearly define and communicate roles, responsibilities and expectations for all members of the project team
  • Accurately and consistently forecast project resource, material and contract costs within standard PG&E tool(s)
  • Participate and lead project status meetings and communicate status of all projects to stakeholders and management. Record, track and communicate issues, risks, changes, and status reports within a PG&E standard tool
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with project sponsors, vendors and key clients
  • Interface with Provision and Delivery resources. Track status of deliverables with resource groups and resolve potential issues
  • Resolve all open items, ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Communicates and manages efforts with 3rd parties
  • Partners with IT, Sourcing and Legal departments to negotiate third party contracts
  • Monitors and manages the scope, schedule, cost and quality of device deployment.




  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management institute (PMl) or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 8 years experience with IT-Information Technology mobile products, operational processes, job-related
  • 3 year experience working client requests and Project Management


  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Utility industry experience, regulated
  • 5 or more years Project Management
  • Mobile device delivery and lifecycle experience
  • Process Improvement
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desired from the Project Management institute (PMl)
  • Fully competent understanding of project management principles and methodologies
  • Understanding of PG&E's business, and lT strategies and objectives
  • Workforce planning and resource management skills
  • Ability to function and manage in a matrixed environment
  • Understanding of lT roles and responsibilities at PG&E
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills
  • Skill inventory and database experience
  • Financial Acumen, team player, makes agreements
  • Proficiency in negotiation and risk management
  • Possess understanding of mobile technologies (ex: iPads, Rugged Mobile, MobileIron, etc,).
