Department Overview

The Market and Credit Risk Management (M&CRM) department consists of Credit and Emerging Risk, Governance, Analysis and Modeling, and Infrastructure and Controls functions.  PG&E engages in various standard and nonstandard natural gas and electric procurement activities, and it is the responsibility of the M&CRM department to facilitate transaction execution and assist in mitigating market, credit and liquidity risks associated with contractual obligations and associated potential liquidity requirements. 

 

The Governance and Reporting group within M&CRM is responsible for the internal risk management governance function and supports external compliance with regulatory requirements.  The group also monitors, runs and maintains a number of the risk metrics and controls.

  

Position Summary

Analyst, Expert is an individual contributor position within Governance and Reporting.  This position is expected to contribute in the areas of risk controls, reporting, compliance and governance in support of the energy procurement and the corresponding risk management infrastructure. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the PG&E Corporation Risk Policy Committee (RPC) and Utility Risk Management Committee (URMC) meetings, papers, and approvals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing risk management policies, procedures, and tools associated with market, credit and financial liquidity risks.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining risk governance infrastructure to mitigate exposure to unwanted risks.
  • Maintain appropriate risk controls to ensure the enforcement of risk management policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Generate compliance, risk management, and metric reports.
  • Work with the Lines of Businesses to resolve risk management issues.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in data mangement and trading controls
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience

 

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics
  • Prior experience in financial reporting, energy procurement, or compliance and regulatory reporting
  • Utility or energy industry experience preferred
  • Effectively copes with change, makes decisions and acts without having complete information, and comfortably handles risk and uncertainty
  • Applies knowledge, skills, and techniques to define, control, report, and improve processes
  • Knows the business and its environment, key issues, and trends
  • Even tempered; manages conflicts in a positive, non-abrasive manner; and is comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels
  • Communicate with peers, subordinates, leadership, and stakeholders, using a variety of media and conveying information or conclusions in a clear, direct, and non-threatening manner
  • Can maneuver through complex organizational situations effectively and without disruption
  • Prior project management experience
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience
