Department Overview

The Corporate Security Department (CSD) is part of the enterprise Security organization within PG&E. Our mission is to protect the people, assets and facilities of PG&E. The department includes regional physical security, security asset and technology management, security operations center, compliance, investigations, emergency response, training and awareness and executive protection teams. Given the criticality of the infrastructure and the facilities it is housed within, PG&E has several compliance obligations at both the federal and state level. We work together internally and in concert with lines of business and supporting partners to provide security based on identified risks.

 

Position Summary

The Corporate Security Technology Risk Advisor, Expert is a key role which will act as a lead physical security technology, risk, mitigation and compliance entity supporting the Critical Infrastructure and team. This position will develop physical protection systems and standards to mitigate identified threats, vulnerabilities and compliance risk. Additionally, the Expert will design and standards for critical infrastructure assets as well as line of business physical security solutions. They will have a lead role in developing physical security engineering standards and liaise internally and across lines of business as well act as the lead technologist for securing PG&Es most critical sites and ensure system performance specifications effectively mitigate potential threats and compliance risk. The Security Technology Risk Advisor will work with CSD’s project management team to develop program and project charters, feasibility studies, RFPs and budgetary estimates and will support CSDs technology roadmap and strategy team.  The successful candidate will perform as an SME for security and compliance requirements from regulatory agencies such as FERC Dam Sector, NERC CIP, CPUC Distribution Security, TSA Gas Pipeline and others as needed.

 

This position will also act as a liaison for Corporate Security with Lines of Business (LOBs) and with staff at regulatory bodies assigned to investigate specific aspects of PG&E’s security and compliance practices.

 

Estimated travel within PG&E service territory up to 25%. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert in Security Systems Technology and Operations, Building Automation/Management System, Fire Alarm, Detection, and Suppression system and Enterprise Solutions and Integration Management.
  • Develops threat and vulnerability assessments and physical security risk mitigation plans.
  • Lead the development, implementation and life cycle of security technology is support of compliance requirements and program documentation in support one or more of FERC Dam Sector, NERC CIP Physical Security Requirements, CPUC, TSA Gas Pipeline and other security regulations as assigned.
  • Applies subject matter expertise (SME) in physical security and regulatory knowledge to evaluate current practices, gap analysis and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and improve existing security and compliance implementations, security system construction and design standards.
  • Program management and engineering of physical security low voltage applications, emerging technologies, concept of operations development, data analytics, and user design collaboration.
  • Advanced to the expert level in MS Office 365 Suite, MS Project and Visio, ACAD and certified in access systems and video system including Physical Security Integration Management (PSIM) platforms.
  • Manage and author large program Request for Proposals (RFP) for Physical Security Systems. These include the creation of the statement of work, conceptual design to bid drawings and contractors bid scoring criteria.
  • Written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate functional, operational, risk and non-risk related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical skills, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives.
  • Ensures that standards and documentation is current, complete, accurate and in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Expected to remain current with evolving regulatory requirements and ensure completeness of requirement inventory and compliance artifacts.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from other lines of business and compliance oversight organizations to ensure timely oral and written communication.
  • Support Corporate Security requirement owners in the development, implementation and maintenance of effective controls.
  • May lead written responses to regulatory data requests, investigations, compliance and regulatory audits and customer inquiries.

 
Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Bachelor of Science or Equivalent experience
  • 6 years of experience in physical security technology and compliance related field, including some experience in project management leading multiple complex security projects, or related technology experience.
  • CISSP certification, or ability to obtain via self-study within one year of date of hire, other relevant IT or security certifications.

 
Desired:

  • Seven (7) years of experience in physical security and compliance related field, including some experience in project leadership role managing multiple complex projects
  • Masters degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Auditor certification
  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP)
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
