Department Overview

Compliance & Ethics (C&E) provides an infrastructure that enables PG&E departments and employees to conduct business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to effectively manage business and operational risks that face the organization. The Compliance team acts in a consultative capacity as a business partner and compliance expert to the entire organization and sets the compliance standards and framework for the organization. Major activities of the compliance program include understanding the business environment, identifying and assessing organizational compliance requirements, ensuring that work processes are included within guidance documents, helping requirement owners develop effective controls, facilitating compliance management, and setting policies and standards, in line with compliance objectives

 

Position Summary

The Risk and Compliance Analyst, Expert, role provides key support to enterprise Compliance program development, activities, management, and team members. The focus is on supporting activities designed to increase the maturity of compliance programs across PG&E. The role is in the Program Development and Operations team, whose work includes enterprise Compliance program strategy and reporting, multi-year roadmap development, a variety of initiatives, benchmarking, and compliance awareness enhancement. The role supports the team’s effort to provide innovative solutions that benefit enterprise-wide stakeholders. Specific areas of focus include partnering with Line of Business (LOB) partners to better utilize data to understand and mitigate compliance issues, as well as developing and managing both department- and company-level reports to increase awareness of compliance programs and performance.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and track dashboards, metrics, and reporting related to the department’s and the company’s compliance and ethics maturity and performance.
  • Partner with the LOBs and key enterprise teams, including the Integrated Planning and Enterprise Risk teams, in the creation, collection, and interpretation of various compliance and ethics performance data, including those related to Notices of Violation and Non-Conformances.
  • Assist in the development and coordinate preparation of presentation materials for various levels of management, including the Board of Directors, the senior-officer Business Plan Review (BPR), the senior-officer Compliance & Ethics Committee, the director-level Compliance & Ethics Leadership Team (CELT), and the manager-level Compliance & Ethics Liaisons team.
  • Assist with the presentation of findings and make recommendations related to compliance issues to functional management, directors, officers and their employees.
  • Assist with development and implementation of improved processes and systems for tracking enterprise-level compliance performance.
  • Work as part of a team on complex compliance assessment issues with critical impact to the organization.
  • Assist in the anticipation of potential compliance issues and develop innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Support strategic planning and decision making on compliance issues.
  • Assist in the development of materials for training and educating employees and leaders to support organization-wide awareness of compliance and ethics best practices and facilitate enterprise or LOB behaviors related to compliance.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and support to LOBs.
  • Participate in established compliance management forums at the enterprise level.
  • Provide support, advice, guidance and recommendations to compliance requirement owners and senior leaders to ensure effective compliance risk management.
  • Assist with other compliance-related projects and activities as directed.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in compliance or risk management, or related, 7 years

 

Desired

  • CCEP-Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional certification
  • Experience working with and manipulating large Excel datasets
  • Proficient in MS Power Point
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong client focus
  • Advanced research, analytical, and issue resolution skills
  • Able to present complex data and findings to internal audiences (including Managers, Directors and VP’s across the company) in a cohesive, understandable and actionable format
  • Understands programs, policy and compliance requirements and able to advise on business impacts
  • Applies demonstrated knowledge and skill to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to use proper analytical techniques to breakdown and solve complex problems
  • Able to develop complex as is and to be process maps for risk and compliance processes and complex controls frameworks
  • Ability to address complex strategic issues and take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • Ability to identify and implement program and process improvement opportunities
  • Ability to provide feedback and coach peers and leaders on risk and compliance issues
  • Works independently, with guidance only needed on the most complex issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (required)
  • Microsoft Access or database skills (desired)
  • Tableau experience (desired)
  • Background in writing guidance documents and metric reporting
  • Ability to solicit and integrate information from a variety of sources
