Introduction

Come join the exciting field of Cybersecurity at Pacific Gas & Electric Company as part of our Cybersecurity Engagement team. We work with external stakeholders to decrease risk and constructively shape the national and state cybersecurity dialog and deliver on internal strategies related to risk management and regulatory filings. We’re looking for motivated people passionate about cybersecurity to help PG&E engage more broadly in cybersecurity at a state and national level. Our team is relatively new, and opportunity exists to help define the practice and operating model.  

Position Summary

This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a talented team, with high exposure internally and externally to PG&E. You will assist in identifying, building, and maintaining collaborative relationships with external stakeholders in engagements aligned with PG&E’s cybersecurity interests, including: academia, R&D, state and federal government, regulatory agencies, sector partners and trade groups. You will also support the team with delivering key internal strategies, including: special enterprise programs, risk management, CPUC deliverables, and security guidance documents.

You will report to PG&E’s Cybersecurity Risk & Strategy organization, joining our diverse team of cybersecurity professionals within the Engagement practice. You will also work closely with other Risk & Strategy teams and the Cybersecurity organization, interacting with leaders and individual contributors internal and external, both business and technical. 

Although San Francisco is the preferred work location, alternative sites may be considered pending the successful candidate’s residence.  Some travel may be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • External Engagement
    • Develop and execute a strategy and roadmap to engage externally with a variety of key stakeholders on a number of collaboration opportunities
    • Explore and recommend engagement priorities and opportunities
    • Communicate PG&E’s cybersecurity position, needs and challenges with key external stakeholders
    • Provide or coordinate cybersecurity subject matter expertise on bills, legislation, academic programs, R&D, and public-private partnerships
    • Travel as needed to maintain external relationships and participate in collaboration opportunities
    • Lead and oversee projects and programs that result from external partnerships
    • Shape the Cybersecurity Engagement operating model and practice
    • Provide content and develop key messaging on PG&E’s Cybersecurity philosophy, strategic direction, challenges and priorities
    • Develop strategies and documentation to define the External Engagement practice
    • Provide cybersecurity technical expertise and input on external engagement activities and deliverables
  • Internal Engagement
    • Represent the Cybersecurity organization in delivering  core strategic internal initiatives
    • Coordinate with appropriate teams internally on deliverables that support regulatory filings
    • Manage and maintain a risk register and guidance documents i.e. standards and policies
    • Provide subject matter expertise and leadership on special Enterprise programs as they relate to cybersecurity
    • Help coordinate special meetings and briefings for the Executive team as needed
    • Develop content on strategic focus and key messages for leadership and the broader organization
    • Develop strategies and documentation to define the Internal Engagement practice

 
Education/Certifications
 

  • Minimum:
    • B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer security, business administration, engineering other relevant field required

 

  • Desired:
    • M.S. or M.B.A. degree in business administration, computer science, computer engineering, engineering or equivalent preferred
    • At least one relevant certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) or equivalent required.

 

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum:
    • 6 years of relevant IT, intelligence or cyber/information security work experience
    • Proven success in building and maintaining relationships
    • Excellent communication, both written and oral, management and planning skills
    • Executive presence, ability to collaborate, lead and influence across multiple levels and stakeholders internally and externally to PG&E
    • Ability to communicate and convey security related concepts to business and technology teams
       
  • Desired:
    • Background in: Cybersecurity for Utility industry or critical infrastructure, Risk Management, program management, working with Federal agencies
    • Experience in IT or security architecture, networking, or consulting
    • Understanding technology trends and developments in cybersecurity and the ICS security threat environment
    • Understanding of key issues facing the Utility industry and California
    • Understanding National trends in Cybersecurity legislation
    • Secret level security clearance
    • Conversant with NIST standards for Cybersecurity
    • Conversant with cybersecurity management policies, procedures, regulations and governance processes
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements is highly desirable ie NERC CIP and NIST standards
    • Demonstrated problem analysis and decision-making skills
