Department Overview

PG&E's Electric Business Operations team is responsible for providing direction and coordination across Electric Transmission, Distribution and Asset Management. Aligning operations and our people with the Electric Operations execution organizations we serve facilitates better planning, execution and overall service delivery. This is accomplished via six distinct but interconnected teams:

 

       1. EO Investment Planning

       2. EO Integrated Planning & Performance Management

       3. Distribution Work & Resource Management

       4. Transmission Operations Work Portfolio

       5. Electric Advance

       6. EO Workforce Planning


The Electric Business Operations organization is led by a Sr Director who reports to the VP of Asset Risk Management and CWSP. The Business Operations organization is responsible for driving partnerships across key departments within Electric Operations and lines of business across the Company to design and drive the strategic planning rhythm. The Business Operations organization owns and directs several processes including Electric Operations Integrated Planning, Regulatory Filings, and the facilitation of EO’s annual expense and capital budget.


All of these services are critical to a company with over $44 billion in assets, over $15 billion in revenues; which serves ~5 million electric distribution customers and ~4 million natural gas distribution customers. Position Summary

Partner with Electric Operations leaders to determine business objectives and utilize data collection, analysis and visualization skills to quantify performance in those key areas.  In addition to quantifying performance, the Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for conducting data analysis that identifies trends and provides leaders with insights that enable them to make informed business decisions.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate working sessions with Electric Operations leaders to identify appropriate goals and metrics that align with the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop metrics (e.g., definitions, data sources, targets, etc.)
  • Prepare reports that concisely reflect the organization’s performance in key areas identified during the goal identification working sessions
  • Analyze large data sets to identify adverse trends and concisely present the findings, enabling leaders to make informed decisions that will improve business performance
  • Assist with process automation work that will streamline reporting processes (e.g., testing of SQL data collection tool, Tableau/Power BI visualization design, etc.) 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience
  • 6 years of analytical experience including data analysis, data visualization and concisely presenting information to employees at all levels

 

Desired:

  • LSS-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficient with Tableau and/or Power BI
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Utility, energy or regulatory industry experience, specifically in utility operations
