Department Overview

Information Systems Technology Services is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively in order to deliver high quality technology solutions. IT Functions are to design, develop, operate and maintain the information and telecommunications systems that enable the Company to meet its commitment to cusomters: Keeping the Lights on and the Gas Flowing, Delivering at a Reasonable Price, and Providing Simple and Convenient Options.

 

Position Summary

The Enterprise Strategy & Architecture practice is a centralized architecture group.

The group supports PG&E’s safety, reliability and affordability goals under the architecture mandate of

Reuse, Rationalize and Standardize. The Enterprise Solutions Architect (ESA) delivers the technical architecture leadership to ensure implementation of quality solutions for major portfolios.

With the efforts of our dedicated people and a commitment to teamwork and continuous communication, the architecture team is able to offer and continuously improve on the following core services:

 

  • Delivery high quality solutions
  • Enable Architecture Build Process
  • Develop Technology Standards
  • Assure Reliable and Reusable Assets
  • Explore, Prototype, and Validate

 

The successful candidate should have extensive experience working with or in the utility industry, have experience with major platform solutions (e.g. Salesforce, SAP, Oracle), familiar with application migration considerations to the cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), and be comfortable working in an agile environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in the Enterprise Architecture team with responsibilities for delivery to clients including the IT centers of excellence and multiple lines of business as needed
  • Provide alignment with the work being performed within the client teams and the architecture organization
  • Work on the Architecture and Solution Continuum
  • Develop thorough understanding of the PG&E’s enterprise and business architecture, the infrastructure, applications and systems
  • Monitor, enhance and maintain Solutions Blueprints, Reference Architectures, and other artifacts within the EA stream for projects
  • Align solutions with existing reference architectures and contribute to enhancing them.
  • Co-ordinate and align with the Technical and Domain Solutions architects within the centralized architecture organization covering areas such as Security, Network, Integration, End User technologies, Analytics and ECM among others
  • Develop and maintain relationship and coordination with Business, Information and Technology Architects
  • Create and conduct stagegate reviews for major projects covering architecture alignment, code reviews, design reviews etc.
  • Provide technology guidance and leadership to clients/stakeholders
  • Stay up to date with developments and technology in the Mobile, Cloud and other segments of the industry
  • Ability to thrive in a fast moving, Agile environment.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Eng. or a related subject
  • Minimum 10 years of software development and delivery experience
  • Minimum 7 years of solution architecture and project implementation experience
  • Experience working as a Technical Lead/Architect in an Agile environment
  • Deep and thorough understanding of Architecture domains and practices within a large enterprise
  • Has worked as Solutions engineer for several years delivering with consistent quality and customer satisfaction. Mature delivery capability
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills including negotiation skills and can drive the point across
  • Relevant experience in successful implementation of field applications for a utility industry
  • Understanding of the Utility Industry and how technology is used within business processes
  • Demonstrated technical leadership
  • Experience working with Mobile Technologies
  • Working knowledge of server side JavaScript frameworks
  • Good knowledge of Linux in a VM and Cloud environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong work ethic
  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the role and has strong sense of ownership

 

Desired:

 

  • MA/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field
  • Architecture Certification preferred (TOGAF, Zachman, DODAF, etc.), Security Certification (CISSP, etc.), IT Delivery Certification (ITILv3, etc.)
  • Good planning and organizational skills; detail and process-oriented; able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
