Position Summary

Reducing wildfire risk is PG&E’s number one priority. To do so, it’s critical that we continuously improve our understanding of how and why ignitions happen on our electric system. This position would be part of a newly launched ignition investigation program. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and investigating ignitions across our distribution and transmission systems, and identifying issues, gaps and lessons learned to share with various stakeholders and senior leaders across the Electric Operations organization. A successful candidate will have the ability to extract and analyze data from multiple sources, a questioning and strategic mindset, and strong technical writing skills.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interviewing first responders, collecting data and records, and consolidating information into an ignition investigation report
  • Responsible for communicating report findings and issues/gaps identified to Electric Operations leadership and appropriate issue owners
  • Responsible for interfacing with other members of the Event Strategy and Analysis team, and other partners in Electric Asset Management, to identify and execute on opportunities to grow and improve the ignition investigation program. Will work towards consolidation of investigation findings to inform company-wide asset strategy.





  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of job-related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.
  • Participation in projects of medium to high complexity.



  • An inquisitive mind and the ability to turn data into information
  • Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with electric grid asset design, operations and asset management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with credibility, confidence and clarity highly complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with PG&E Electric Operations data systems including SAP, FAS, ILIS and OIS
  • Investigation, equipment testing or failure analysis experience
  • Strong drive for results and ability to identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities (eg. through use of Python, SQL and/or Tableau to automate and streamline processes)
