Position Summary

Reducing wildfire risk is PG&E’s number one priority. To do so, it’s critical that we continuously improve our understanding of how and why ignitions and other serious incidents happen on our electric system. This position is part of the Event Strategy and Analysis team, which was formed in 2018 to consolidate and mature PG&E’s investigation of electric incidents. The Career Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and investigating ignitions and other incidents on our distribution and transmission systems, and identifying issues, gaps and lessons learned to share with various stakeholders and senior leaders across the Electric Operations organization. A successful candidate will have the ability to extract and analyze data from multiple sources, an attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collecting data and records and consolidating information into an investigation report
  • Responsible for querying PG&E systems including SAP, FAS, ILIS and OIS to pull data and records, and working with SMEs across Electric Operations to provide additional information and interpret results
  • Will work with members of the Event Strategy and Analysis team and other stakeholders to identify and execute on opportunities to grow and improve the investigation program and consolidate investigation findings to inform company-wide asset strategy




  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in similar or related job functions (Business, IT or Engineering fields) that could be substituted by an advanced degree.



  • An inquisitive mind and the ability to turn data into information
  • Experience with electric grid asset design, operations and asset management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with PG&E Electric Operations data systems including SAP, FAS, ILIS and OIS
  • Investigation, equipment testing or failure analysis experience
  • Strong drive for results and ability to identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities (eg. through use of Python, SQL and/or Tableau to automate and streamline processes)
