Department Overview

 

The Electric Operations Asset Knowledge Management (AKM) organization’s vision is to enable risk-informed, data driven decision-making by leveraging and improving records/data, managing and integrating data systems, and enabling technology. Data Quality Improvements and Integrity (DQII) is part of AKM under the Data Management & Analytics department. The major focus of this team is on realizing tangible improvements to PG&E’s data quality and ensuring high data quality is maintained over time. The team works closely with partners across Electric Operations and IT to collaboratively and strategically support critical data elements and creation of metadata and supporting materials that enable informed use of data resources.

 

 

Position Summary

The Data Stewardship Manager will lead the Stewardship Program within the Electric Operations organization. The goal of this new program is to provide governance, oversight and support the LoBs as they advance their ability to make data-driven decisions by improving the accessibility, quality and use of information/data and maturing analytical capabilities:

· Work closely with Enterprise Data Management (EDM) to meet enterprise expectations while supporting organizational needs

· Identifying, quantifying, prioritizing, and resolving cross-LoB data management related issues

· Support EO LoBs for the operationalization of EDM standards

· Develop, implement, and continuously improving EO Stewardship Program

· Plan and execute EO change management and communication activities

· Establish ongoing feedback processes to identify successes and opportunities for program improvement

· Serve as the technology liaison for data management tools

· Collaborate closely with Metadata Management lead to establish requirements for and continuously improving usability of data governance tools and technology

S/he will have a passion for building and leading high performing teams and will be responsible for developing an environment where teams can be successful by removing roadblocks, fostering a culture of agility, and providing leadership & technical guidance. S/he need to possess a deep understanding of data management, and act as an ambassador for the program. S/he must have excellent collaboration and communication skills and excel at influencing without authority.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

· Lead EO day to day operations for the implementation of corporate EDM policies within the LoBs to ensure data quality, availability, and governance

· Provides services that include planning, development, implementation and support for data management solutions in partnership with the Enterprise Data Management (EDM)

· Support the EDM Data Stewardship Community of Practice

· Interprets corporate wide policies and partners with the LoBs to establish implementation plans to adhere to standards and improve overall data management maturity

· Participates in developing LoB EO practices and processes that are aligned with overall company EDM guidelines, policies and objectives

· Partners with LoBs to drive intuitive and actionable business intelligence products. Provides strategic

support by obtaining thorough understanding of data processes and definitions

· Assesses business needs and the development and delivery of EO Data Stewardship Programs

· Collaborate with EDM to help educate LoBs on EDM policies, procedures and best practices.

· Partner with the IT organization and LoBs to identify, catalog and ingest critical data assets

· Provides guidance and leadership to LoB leaders regarding EDM policy.

· Identifies issues and recommends actions/resolutions to gaps and risks in current state

· Regularly meets with peers and leaders in LoBs to report on enterprise data management program and compliance metrics. Continually assesses needs and develops alternatives and solutions

· May manage associated budgeting and planning

· Executes change management and communication activities

· Ensures timely and effective communication regarding the mapping of initiatives to business goals to business partners, including presenting information to business leaders and IT outlining portfolio specifics

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

· BA/BS Degree in Business, Economics or relevant degree or equivalent experience, Masters Degree preferred.

· Eight (8) years of relevant Business, Operational or Process Improvement experience or related or equivalent experience

 

Desired:

· PMP Certification

-Experience working with data stored across multiple databases/data sources

-Advanced knowledge of Program Management

-Ability to influence leaders inside and outside of the department through data analysis, insights and recommendations

· Lean Six Sigma Certification

· Project Management Certification or equivalent work experience with demonstrated success

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio or similar software

· Advanced reporting knowledge and experience with multiple reporting tools

· Demonstrated experience in data visualization best practices using Tableau

· Broad knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches and tactics

· Broad expertise in what-if modeling analysis, concepts, methods and techniques and analysis of how different factors affect business outcomes

· Creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions

· Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills

· Strong presentation and communication skills

· Strong project management knowledge and skills to lead project teams
