The PG&E Energy Efficiency (EE) group focuses on inspiring and empowering our customers to eliminate unnecessary energy use, reduce their carbon footprint and save money. We manage a diverse portfolio of products and strategic programs that expertly deliver the right solutions across all customer segments, sizes, geographic locations and engagement preferences. As the nation’s largest energy efficiency program, EE is helping to transform markets, set building codes and appliance standards and be the marker by which all other utilities are measured.


Within EE Programs, the Field Engineering Services Team (FES) team is a dynamic and critical organization which manages relationships with PG&E's commercial, industrial, and agricultural (CIA) customers, and certain external third-parties (such as energy consulting companies that focus on energy efficiency programs and services) . FES is focused on providing outstanding customer service to these customers and external parties by working with all departments within PG&E to ensure that their electric or gas issues and energy efficiency opportunities are consistently and efficiently resolved.


Position Summary

This position will be responsible for providing technical support to the Business Energy Solutions (BES) organization for customer specific needs and to further the energy efficiency opportunities at customer facilities. This individual will be working with Industrial, Agricultural, or Commercial to develop energy savings calculations, perform energy audits, and present reports to customers. Additionally, they will interact with PG&E Portfolio Management and other PG&E departments, vendors, industry groups and others to deepen knowledge and understanding of technical solutions, options, practices and processes.


 You must be able to travel at least 30 % of the time





  • Complete customer site visits by performing energy audits of facilities to identify opportunities for the customer to reduce electrical and gas consumption
  • Evaluate energy efficiency options for customer specific needs and determine the appropriate PG&E channel (rebates, CORE, 3rd Party, Direct Install, etc.) to utilize
  • Provide technical calculations to estimate and confirm customer baselines, potential energy savings and address other impacts that could affect customer projects
  • Determine the appropriate calculation method to most effectively quantify potential energy savings based on; project complexity, business impact, and uncertainty of calculation inputs



  • Use technical knowledge and expertise to proactively identify future EE market opportunities
  • Build relationships with customers and facility contacts to assist in market transformation efforts, field perspective and identification of process or program gaps
  • Assist products and programs departments in the development of additional portfolio opportunities
  • Perform technical reviews on financial applications or incentive applications



  • Manage identified EE projects from development through implementation and payment. Requires updating of project status and interacting with BES members in Salesforce/Energy Insight tool, and communicating with all parties involved with project lifecycle



  • Provide technical and policy trainings to the sales organization (BES)
  • Respond to sales team questions from the field with regard to products, programs, applications or processes where coordination with other departments as needed





  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 2 years of related experience in engineering and/or technical analysis
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain by first day of employment



  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • Utility industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and project management skills
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction
  • General knowledge of end use technology (lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, motors, pumps, compressors and commercial, industrial and agricultural processes)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience and proficiency in project management:  manage multiple priorities and projects to completion such as energy efficiency projects
  • Experience with Measurement and Verification techniques
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM platform
  • Strong focus on safety
  • DOE Qualified Specialists (ie: AIRMaster+, FSAT, PHAST, PSAT, or SSAT Qualified Specialists)
