Department Overview

Enterprise Continuous Improvement (ECI) provides Continuous Improvement services on PG&E’s most important strategies. We provide these services by deploying our expert practitioners in the areas of Change and Process Improvement. ECI also has a Center of Excellence dedicated to developing change and continuous improvement capability and creating a culture of continuous improvement across the enterprise. This role resides in the ECI Center of Excellence.

 

Position Summary

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Consultant will also act as a thought leader, applying extensive unique subject matter expertise while consulting with internal clients on enterprise-level initiatives. As a member of ECI’s Center of Excellence, The CI Consultant will play an integral part in maintaining established Change and Continuous Improvement practices and techniques, while recommending new models and tools tailored to PG&E based on relevant leading practices. This role will support the development of Change and Continuous Improvement training, tools, and templates to support PG&E’s continuous improvement community of practice, as well as mentor other ECI staff in the development of Change and Continuous Improvement subject matter expertise. The CI Consultant will both deliver discrete work products, while facilitating capability building that drives sustainable solutions for overall organizational excellence and maturity in alignment with PG&E’s near-and-long-term objectives.

 

 

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    • Process Improvement Orientation: Engineering, mathematics, statistics or other technical degrees
    • Change Orientation: Human Resources, change management, communications, organization development, or related field  
  •  Requires 7 years of relevant experience in the areas of: Business Strategy, Organization Change, PMO, Program/Project Management, Operations Management

 

Desired:

  • Master of Business Administration; Masters in Engineering, mathematics, statistics or other technical degrees, Masters in Organizational Change, Organizational Development, or relevant discipline
  • Ability to work within deadlines and be flexible with changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical team members, as well as executive through field level positions within the company.
  • Expert level use of Excel, or other analytical tools
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Successfully developing & managing senior executive level relationships within complex environments.
    • Successfully leading directly or indirectly a functional, industry, and/or business area.
    • Guiding executive level business decisions based on relevant business intelligence – presented using techniques such as: quantitative/qualitative analysis, process analysis, performance and operations analysis, business case development, risk and/or gap analysis Leading engagements that deliver complex strategy projects and initiatives with measurable results, working across organizational boundaries, and interfacing with senior executives.
    • Well versed in a breadth and depth of multiple improvement methods to improve imitative performance with regards to scorecard metrics, business benefit measurements, and achievement of goals
  • Process Improvement Certification (Lean, Lean Six- Sigma, Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent) and/or,
  • Change Management Certification (expert level) and/or,
  • Project Management Certification (expert level)

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the organization by maintaining established Change and Continuous Improvement practices/ techniques and recommending new techniques tailored to PG&E based on relevant leading practices
  • Act as a thought leader, applying extensive unique Change and Continuous Improvement subject matter expertise in the development of strategy or resolution of complex issues.
  • Consult enterprise-level initiatives in the areas of Change and Continuous Improvement  
  • Mentor other staff in the development of Change and Continuous Improvement subject matter expertise, growing knowledge in practice areas, relationship development, and strategy for resolution of complex issues
  • Plan, measure and adjust the change process strategy to meet project/program deliverables.
  • Lead the identifying of recommendations to optimize opportunities and develop initiative solutions.
  • Identify, suggest, and implement best practices to facilitate best solutions and methods that will optimize change delivery in all areas of the business.
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen and apply a thorough understanding of the PG&E strategy, to support integrated delivery of Enterprise and LOB initiatives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of our industry trends, including peers, business processes, financial measurements and performance indicators.
  • Build, leverage and manage productive 3rd party relationships.
