Department Overview

PG&E's Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the Company.  This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning and forecasting; monitoring, controlling and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational and financial objectives.

Partner Organization

The successful candidate will support the Safety & Health (aka SHED) organization, which is comprised of Safety & Health, Enterprise Corrective Action Program (ECAP), and Department of Transportation (DOT) Compliance.  These teams support vital programs geared at ensuring regulatory compliance, risk reduction, as well as injury and illness prevention.  These programs include Ergonomics, Contractor Safety, Wellness, and more.  Nothing is more important than public, employee and contractor safety and health, and this is a great opportunity to support a highly visible organization that is at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative safety and health solutions.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will serve in a critical functional support role of the Corporate and Shared Services organizations.   In this role, you will serve as a front-line business partner for all finance and accounting support of Safety & Health’s business unit and corporate items expenses, including planning, budget, forecasting, tools, and analysis. The successful Senior Analyst will integrate with the client organizations and become a trusted financial and strategic advisor to the leadership team.  In summary, the successful candidate will balance and utilize their functional expertise, intellectual curiosity, ethics, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain integrative relationships and ensure best in class decision support and recommendation.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work with Income Statement items that are outside of the traditional Business Finance role supporting PG&E’s operating expenses.  Through working with corporate items, you’ll gain exposure to complex accounting and regulatory processes and gain a total Company view of earnings management.  

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Planning (Long Term): Develop, advise, and integrate the business unit financial plans and performance baselines to meet the Company's long term operational and financial objectives.
  • Forecasting (Short Term): Provide timely, balanced forward looking financial assessments that capture current performance and enable nimble, value optimized operational and financial decisions.
  • Reporting & Analysis (Historical): Provide timely and accurate monthly financial visibility that objectively assesses performance, and proactive financial analytics that identify opportunities, risks, and associated resolution recommendations.
  • Regulatory: Serve as the financial backbone for regulatory filings, support, and defense; including Safety & Health organization and corporate items expenses for our General Rate Case filing, Risk Assessment Mitigation Phase (RAMP) filing. 

Other Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Identify, and evaluate key processes for opportunities in effectiveness, control, and efficiency, and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Tools: Provide active engagement on the evaluation, design, and use of our critical functional toolset.
  • Governance: Implement and maintain functional governance standards and provide feedback on areas of opportunity.




  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of related functional experience (business, mathematics, statistics, engineering - based)
