Department Overview

PG&E’s Integrated Disability Management (IDM) Department is responsible for PG&E’s time-off programs, including sick leave and similar absence programs, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), medical leaves not covered under FMLA or CFRA, and Workers’ Compensation.  The department administer PG&E’s Self‑Insured and Self‑Administered WC Program, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws; and manages all Leave of Absence (LOA) and employees return from leave, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

This integrated approach has allowed PG&E to improve the coordination of services to employees.  The focus of the IDM team is to ensure that these employees receive appropriate care and that the Company makes all reasonable efforts to return the employee back to productive work as quickly as possible.  IDM also identifies developing trends regarding employee time‑off and work with the Lines of Business to develop proactive approaches to reduce the number of employees away from work due to injuries and illnesses.  All these activities are pursued both to contain costs and maintain effective and efficient utility operations.

 

Position Summary

This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Non-Purchase Order (Non-PO) financial transactions for employee benefits.  The position requires a collaborative partnership with HR Benefits, Corporate Accounting, Banking, Investments Benefits Finance (IBF) and various employee benefit vendors with the express purpose of maintaining a healthy and viable system of clean documentation with a focus on continuous process improvement. 

 

This position is located in Concord, CA.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Vendor & Data Management: Monitor vendor contracts for banking and billing requirements.  Will require proficient communication skills for the purpose of writing contract language with banking and billing requirements and communicating in a collaborative environment with various vendors and PG&E departments.  Responsible for overseeing compliance with delegation of signing authority and working with other Benefits Analyst to maintain a simplified and effective recordkeeping system and accurate payment calculation worksheets.
  • Inquiry and Issue Research & Resolution:  Requires ability to ask probing questions, consultation with participants, research into circumstances, and evidence to resolve.
  • Process Development, Implementation & Management:  Continuously review processes for opportunities for improvement.  Develop and implement revised procedures and monitor for compliance.  Develop statistical monitoring tools that not only report statistics but also assist in identifying financial discrepancies.
  • Research & Analysis:  Perform research and analysis in support of business decision making, for audits, compliance or regulatory reporting needs, and in response to surveys and information requests.  Perform detailed account reconciliations as needed and communicate with internal and external business partners to understand and resolve discrepancies.
  • Payment Processing and Reconciliation:  Process and reconcile vendor payments, including assisting in the preparation of journal entries, as needed.  Respond to and resolve common and complex payment account inquiries and issues.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • 4 years college degree or equivalent preferred
  • 3+ years relevant work in payment or other accounting work

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
