Position Summary

The intern will contribute directly to reporting that provides a one-stop view of Electric Risk & Compliance deliverables and status tracking, including structured views that support leadership visibility and operating review discussions.

This position is hybrid with the expectation of working in PG&E’s General Office in downtown Oakland, CA approximately 1-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

Supporting senior staff with:

Dashboard & Report Development

  • Build and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports for Electric Risk & Compliance stakeholders.
  • Design clear report layouts (pages/tabs), visuals, and navigation to support “one-stop view” reporting for leaders.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI datasets/semantic models, including measures and calculations to support standardized reporting.
  • Create repeatable reporting views for operating review cadence (e.g., leadership visibility views and drilldowns).

Reporting Operations, Publishing, and Sustainment

  • Support publishing and managing report links and placement in team reporting spaces (e.g., apps/workspaces) as directed by the team.
  • Assist with reporting refresh expectations and stakeholder use patterns (e.g., multiple refreshes per day and refresh timing aligned to operating review needs).
  • Perform basic quality checks for dashboard accuracy and usability, and incorporate improvement feedback during sustainment cycles.

Stakeholder Presentation & Communication

  • Prepare short, clear walkthroughs of dashboards (what’s changed, what the metrics mean, where to look, how to filter).
  • Present dashboards and key takeaways to nontechnical stakeholders in a concise, professional manner (focus on decisions and actions). (Role emphasis—presentation expectation aligned to operating review usage.)
  • Document definitions and assumptions (metric definitions, logic notes, data source notes) to support consistent interpretation across stakeholders.

Travel may be required; frequency depends on the assignment and is typically less than 10%.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Industrial Engineering at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or after the internship
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work location

Desired:  (Dashboard/Reporting Forward)

  • Demonstrated experience creating Power BI dashboards/reports (coursework, internship, or portfolio).
  • Ability to turn stakeholder questions into a dashboard page: requirements → visuals → measures → publish.
  • Strong attention to detail for visual consistency, metric definitions, and reporting accuracy.
  • Comfort creating leader ready visuals that tell a clear story (status, trend, drivers, actions).
  • Presentation and stakeholder communication strength: can explain what a dashboard is showing, what changed, and what actions are needed.
  • Interest in risk/compliance reporting and operating review support in a regulated environment.
