Department Overview

PG&E’s Underground Program organization is working to reduce wildfire risk each day as we underground 10,000 miles of distribution lines.  We are responsible for working across all internal teams and engaging external stakeholders to support successfully meeting our goals and reducing wildfire risk.

 

Position Summary

Provides guidance for the organization’s data modeling/data architecture standards across different functional teams. Manages data warehouse related technology that supports solutions which meet business capabilities and are consistent with enterprise standards, architecture, and strategies.  Works independently and collectively with architects to ensure breadth and granularity of strategies, standards, design patterns, and roadmaps are consistent and integrated across an encompassing enterprise-wide Reference Architecture.

 

Facilitates and enables data lineage and metadata management across the organization. Participates and provides guidance in various organization’s data architecture related product evaluation and recommendation efforts including but not limited to data modeling, business intelligence, and metadata tools. Provides direction to ensure designs are resilient, sustainable, efficient, intuitive and maintainable. Provide direction for defining functional support for shared app capabilities.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 
1.    Minimum:    $147,000
2.    Midpoint:    $199,000
3.    Maximum:   $251,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops highly complex data systems that have wide ranging impact and application across multiple departments. Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives. Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues, and developing innovative solutions. Presents findings and recommendations to senior leaders to demonstrate business value and secure buy-in.
  • Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making. Provides guidance for the organization data modeling/data architecture standards across different functional teams. Provides data warehouse related technology that supports solutions which meet business capabilities and are consistent with enterprise standards, architecture, and strategies.
  • Works individually and collectively with architects to ensure breadth and granularity of strategies, standards, design patterns and roadmaps are consistent and integrated across an encompassing enterprise Reference Architecture. Facilitates and enables data lineage and metadata management across the organization.
  • Participates and provides guidance in various organization data architecture related tool and product evaluation and recommendation efforts including but not limited to data modeling, business intelligence, and metadata tools. Provides direction to ensure design meets current and future needs, remains easy to fix, is fault resistant, resource efficient and is easy to use for end users. Provide direction for defining functional support for shared app capabilities.

 

 Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Ten (10) years of enterprise data architecture and/or data modeling experience.  
  • Travel requirements approximately 10% - 20%.
  • Experience with specific technologies, systems and platforms related to Data Warehousing.
  • Experience with hardware, software technologies, applications, and modeling techniques related to a domain or associated sub-domain.

 

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading the strategic vision and direction with specific technologies, systems and platforms related to a domain or associated sub- domain
  • In depth understanding of and competence in supporting architecture, design, development, and deployment related to data warehousing.
  • In depth understanding, within a domain or associated sub-domain, of industry trends, emerging standards and the ability to apply them.
  • Demonstrated competence in leading architecture, design, development, and deployment related to a domain or associated sub-domain.
