Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

 

LNG/CNG Engineering & Operations is responsible for the design, management and operation of PG&E’s compressed natural gas fueling facilities and portable natural gas equipment.

 

Position Summary

Conducts the coordination, implementation and support of utilizing portable natural gas assets during planned pipeline outages to keep customers uninterrupted during these outages.

 

This position is a DOT classified position and subject to random drug screening

 

Job Responsibilities

  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Modifications to equipment and processes occur quite frequently so the expectation is that this position will assist in the development and implementation those improvements.
  • CUSTOMER INTERFACE AND SUPPORT: This position will require interfacing directly with customers to ensure safe and proper siting of the portable equipment. ES&S representatives will also provide support for larger customers.
  • FIELD REVIEW OF INJECTION POINTS: Once the data related to a project is gathered, a field review must be conducted with LNG/CNG operators and local maintenance employees. This field review will then be documented into a response package for the operators.
  • OUTAGE SUPPORT AND USAGE TRACKING: Oftentimes support is require during set up or during an outage which requires good decision making as those changes occur.
  • PEAK SHAVING SUPPORT: Provide whatever support is necessary for cold weather operations.
  • PORTABLE NATURAL GAS OUTAGE COORDINATION: During peak times of planned outage work or for vacation relief, this system wide coordinator would function as a regional portable natural gas outage coordinator. The responsibilities include
  • PRE-PLANNING JOB REVIEWS: This involves the gathering of information for upcoming outages: learning the scope of the outage, determining what taps will be affected, determining the usage at each of these taps and what type of equipment should be used. This also involves the scheduling of the equipment and operators to ensure coordination with the pipeline outage schedule.
  • SYSTEMWIDE RESPONSE DEVELOPMENT: Serve as the first point of contact for project managers, planners and customer impact representatives for the initial review and scope development for planned outage response. Typically, this response would then be handed off to one of the regional outage coordinators.

 

  • Work location is the Northern Area only and will be based out of the Rocklin office.
  • Work Schedule is 9/80's only.
  • On-call is a 4 week rotation on that 4th weekend. On-call is only on the weekend for now.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related experience, 3 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent

 

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in project management
