Department Overview

Electric Distribution Systems (Operations Support) is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity to our customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s Electric Distribution Operations, including, restoration and emergency response.

A part of Electrical Distribution is the management of Website Development, SharePoint Site Development and Learning Management Systems. The Electric Distribution (ED) group implements industry leading training for the company, setting the standard both in the United States and globally in the Electric Utility industry.

 

Position Summary

Electric Distribution System Operations Support is responsible for supporting Electric Distribution Operations as well as the efficient use of technology, tools and applications for maintaining existing websites and managing the lifecycle of website production.

Electric Distribution (Operations and Support) is looking for a talented summer intern to help support the compliant, efficient, and systemic control of the creation, maintenance and use of company websites, SharePoint sites, and LMS systems. Electric Distribution will be driving numerous initiatives.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.85 to $35.11.

 

Responsibilities

  • Designing/Re-designing websites, SharePoint sites and LMS tools
  • Meeting requirements for managing websites, SharePoint sites and LMS tools
  • Mapping websites to business requirements
  • Developing and implementing internal program effectiveness plan
  • Developing website production process for websites, SharePoint sites and LMS tools

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced professionals and subject matter experts. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Operations and Support organization through the work they will be performing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s and/or both degrees in Computer Engineering/Science or Business and Social Media Marketing field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after internship
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one prior to the start date

Desired:

  • Experience in website development (provide samples)
  • Experience with SharePoint development
  • Background in Azure
  • Expertise in the Microsoft suite
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
