The Supply Chain/Procurement Organization includes a staff of more than 500 sourcing managers, buyers, analysts, materials planners, quality and strategy professionals, and warehouse personnel.  This role will support both the Procurement and Materials departments.  

 

The Procurement Organization’s mission is to deliver cost effective and valued procurement services through strategic, diverse, and sustainable business solutions. Our work requires close integration with all lines of business, finance, and our suppliers.

 

The Materials Organization strategically manages and delivers critical resources to enable operational excellence across the enterprise.  Our team ensures timely availability of high-quality, shovel-ready materials through robust planning, inventory optimization, and precise logistics coordination.

 

 

Position Summary

 

The Supply Chain AI Enablement Intern will support the design, development, and adoption of AI-driven solutions across supply chain operations. This role bridges supply chain domain knowledge with data, analytics, and emerging AI tools to improve processes across various supply chain disciplines.  (Procurement, supplier risk, materials management, logistics, and decision-making.)  The intern will work closely with supply chain leaders, data scientists, and IT partners to help translate operational needs into scalable AI-enabled solutions.

 

In this role, the successful candidate will gain: Hands-on experience applying AI to real-world supply chain challenges, Exposure to enterprise-scale data, systems, and transformation initiatives, Mentorship from supply chain, analytics, and technology professionals, and Development of highly marketable skills at the intersection of operations and AI.

 

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Support the identification and prioritization of supply chain use cases for AI and advanced analytics.
  • Assist in preparing, cleaning, and analyzing supply chain data from ERP and planning systems.
  • Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to test and validate AI/ML models and dashboards.
  • Document business requirements, workflows, and AI solution impacts for stakeholders.
  • Help pilot and support deployment of AI-enabled tools, including user training materials and change enablement.
  • Track performance metrics and assist in evaluating business value and adoption of AI solutions.
  • Research emerging AI technologies and best practices relevant to supply chain transformation.

 

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $36.42.

 

 

Qualifications 

 

Minimum:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field at an accredited University.
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship.

 

Desired:

  • Strong interest in AI, machine learning, and digital transformation within supply chain operations.
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain concepts (planning, logistics, procurement, inventory).
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work with data.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, SQL, R, Excel, or Power BI/Tableau.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts or AI platforms (e.g., forecasting models, NLP, optimization).
  • Experience working on academic or personal projects involving analytics or automation.
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytical or technical requirements.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
