Department Summary

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

The Electric Technical Document Management (TDM) Supervisor is responsible for a team of technical document writing and publication professionals who provide clear and easily understood guidance documents and provides oversight and support for the development and maintenance of effective electric documents that enable PG&E to meet or exceed compliance with all applicable codes and regulations and ensure public and employee safety. Incumbents ensure the team produces clear and easily understood guidance documents that are in alignment with the Company's guidance document initiatives and serve as the foundation for employee training, support and guide work practices daily.

 

Work location is flexible throughout the PG&E service territory. This position is hybrid. Once a week is expected in the office, plus whole team monthly meetings (subject to change due to business need). This role may require additional travel within the service territory, and occasional need for flexible/long hours.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: 118,000

Bay Area Maximum: 188,000

OR​

California Minimum: 112,000

California Maximum: 179,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the document management team that provides technical writing and publishing of electric technical documents.
  • Promotes accountability through recognition, coaching, training and development and encourages teamwork, commitment to ensures high quality work products that are delivered on time.
  • Proof work of technical writers and contractors, providing coaching and training as necessary.
  • Helps client organizations to become Guidance Document Management (GDM) compliant by ensuring conformance to the GDM standards, procedures, and templates.
  • Communicates with all clients on a regular basis and ensures all client needs are met and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Looks for and recommends process changes to improve productivity, quality, and customer focus. Supports related department initiatives.
  • May oversee the operations of the Technical Information Library (TIL), ensuring accuracy, working with technical support, and resolving availability and other technical issues.
  • May help troubleshoots major issues and provides backup support for document posting and TIL updates.
  • Responds to Legal and Regulatory Affairs requests by assisting clients with historical document research and retrieval.
  • Provides performance and publication reports and metrics to management on a regular basis.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience with technical publications, technical writing, and document databases

 

Desired:

  • Advanced writing and grammar skills
  • 7 years of experience with technical publications, technical writing, and document databases.
  • Supervisory skills, including the ability to lead technical writer and technical expert-level staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Technical Writing Degree
  • In depth knowledge of document management philosophy, governance and requirements.
  • Strong advocation for the end-user experience.
  • Expertise in communication, interpersonal/collaboration influence and negotiation and process management.
  • Analytical and creative problem solving, strategic decision-making ability.
  • Broadvision/Quicksilver skills, and Documentum document database skills.
  • Documentum coordinator experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure-driven deadlines.
  • High level organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Utility experience
