Position Summary

 

Leads the Outage Quality function responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and auditability of electric outage reporting across distribution control centers (DCCs). Oversees a team of Outage Quality Specialists and establishes the processes, controls, and standards necessary to ensure outage data meets internal governance requirements and external regulatory reporting obligations. Ensures outage records and reporting practices are compliant with audit expectations and support PG&E’s regulatory filings and reliability performance metrics.

 

Drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of outage reporting standards, procedures, and quality assurance processes. Oversees and reviews activities, identifies systemic issues, and ensures corrective actions are implemented to improve data quality and reporting performance. Partners with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise, support system enhancements, and align outage reporting practices with enterprise reliability objectives.

 

This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters location is flexible within the PG&E service territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the job's locality.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed toward the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis based on these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000
Bay Area Mid-Point: $173,000
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000
&/OR
CA Minimum: $122,000
CA Mid-Point: $164,000
CA Maximum: $207,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Lead and supervise the Outage Quality team, providing direction, coaching, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality outage reporting and compliance. 
•    Establish, maintain, and enhance outage reporting processes, standards, and controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness of outage records. 
•    Ensure outage data is accurate, complete, and suitable for regulatory filings, internal reporting, and reliability performance tracking. 
•    Develop and manage reporting frameworks and metrics to monitor data quality, identify gaps, and drive accountability across DCC operations. 
•    Lead root cause analysis of reporting errors and systemic issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained through updated processes and training. 
•    Partner with Distribution Control Centers (DCCs), engineering, IT, and compliance teams to resolve complex outage reporting issues and improve processes. 
•    Provide subject matter expertise on outage reporting requirements, systems, and practices to internal stakeholders and leadership. 
•    Oversee the development and delivery of training and coaching programs to ensure consistent application of outage reporting procedures and standards. 
•    Support and influence system enhancements and process improvements, ensuring outage reporting capabilities evolve to meet business and regulatory needs. 
•    Establish and maintain internal controls and governance frameworks that ensure transparency, traceability, and auditability of outage data. 
•    Represent the organization in internal reviews and external audits related to outage reporting and data quality.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

•    Direct reports include Outage Quality Specialists.
•    Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and coaching, and rewards and recognition.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    High school or GED.
•    California Driver’s License.
•    5 years of total relevant experience, such as electric construction field experience and supervisory experience.

 

Desired:

 

•    System Operator Journeyman Certification
•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
•    ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or equivalent.
•    ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Specialist
•    Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
•    Expert knowledge of electric utility operations and business processes as need to perform at the job level
•    Competency in knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
•    Knowledge of principles, methods, and technology for curriculum and training design, for teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and for the measurement of training effects as needed to perform at the job level.
•    Competency in building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.

•    Knowledge of quality control, quality assurance, and auditing concepts, methods, practices, and techniques.
•    Knowledge of electric construction methods and practices.
•    Knowledge of the requirements of the OH and UG Construction Manual.
•    Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
•    Strong communication, analysis, and decision-making skills.
•    Good analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
•    Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
•    Good leadership/supervisory skills.
