Department Overview

The work performed by the Corporate Security Department (CSD) is key to the company’s success in protecting employees, the contract workforce, the public, and the company’s physical assets, including several which are critical to the nation’s power grid infrastructure.

CSD provides a variety of opportunities, including involvement in developing, communicating, and implementing processes and tools relating to investigations, formal communications with company officers, personnel development, and coordination of the company’s physical security efforts. Importance is placed on developing close partnerships with other Functional Organizations and law enforcement, to ensure quick response and appropriate communication of issues and mitigation plans.

The Executive Protection Supervisor works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and staff to provide security for the CEO and Senior Executive Officers as needed.

Position Summary

The Executive Protection Supervisor is a highly trained professional responsible for the day-to-day operations of safeguarding the Chief Executive Officer and other Senior Officers by ensuring staff conduct threat assessments, plan secure routes, provide close physical protection, and respond to potential security threats. The Executive Protection Supervisor will also work closely with other Corporate Security personnel during special events to help provide physical security and to conduct advance security assessments of future venues.

The Executive Protection Supervisor works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and staff to provide security for the CEO and Senior Executive Officers as needed.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and Oakland General Office based on business needs. Additionally, this role necessitates travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout the State of California, as well as international travel, up to 30% of the time.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operational supervisor for a team of Personal Security Advisors, driving training standards, performance readiness, schedule coverage, and adherence to EP code-of-conduct and confidentiality expectations.
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of Personal Security Advisors mission for the CEO and designated senior leaders, ensuring safe, discreet, and disruption-minimized protection operations across office, residential, and travel environments.
  • Function as the primary protection operations liaison with executive staff, internal security partners, and law enforcement to maintain rapid coordination, clear communication, and effective incident response.
  • Build and manage weekly schedules/rotations, ensuring 24/7 coverage capability and surge capacity for short-notice movements and emergent threats.
  • Oversee administrative readiness: timecard/timekeeping approvals, staffing alignment to coverage plans, and duty-of-care documentation to support mission continuity.
  • Coach, mentor, and train EP personnel; conduct readiness validation through recurrent drills, scenario-based exercises, and standards-based evaluations (driving, defensive tactics, medical response, and protective formations).
  • Handling emergency situations promptly and effectively and ensuring the CEO’s safety at all times.
  • Maintain and validate EP operational standards for personnel: CPR/First Aid, TECC, firearms qualification, defensive tactics, driving proficiency, and technology utilization; ensure certifications and training records remain current.
  • Remain available for protection 24/7, including immediate response to the security/safety needs of the executive and his or her family members.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of travel (business or pleasure) involving the executive and his or her family members to provide security/safety recommendations and related security mitigations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Complete related staff assignments, research projects, presentations, and security vulnerability assessments and plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Protection Manager and Director.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 10 years of relevant experience in the physical security or law enforcement field
  • Current CA Driver’s License
  • Current U.S. Passport
  • Authority to carry a concealed weapon in accordance with HR 218/CCW
  • Must be able to qualify for NERC/CIP clearance
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push/pull, and position equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis throughout the work shift, using safe lifting practices.
  • Physically capable of providing close protection and executing emergency evacuation/extraction procedures to move a principal to safety under urgent conditions; requires the ability to lift/carry more than 50 pounds as operationally necessary
  • Must successfully complete and maintain qualifications in required physical and cognitive training programs, which may be strenuous and include scenario-based instruction, stress exposure exercises, performance evaluations, and periodic reassessment to ensure operational readiness.

Desired:

  • Corporate, private family office or military executive protection experience
  • BA/BS degree in Criminology, Police Science, Criminal Justice Administration
  • Executive Protection Accreditation from a local, state, or national school
