Department Overview

The New Business PMO (NB PMO) is the budget and process owners for Gas and Electric Distribution New Business. Its mandate is to provide end-to-end financial and program management, process ownership, and timely delivery of the New Business customer work portfolio (currently approximate 20k distribution projects and approximately annual $1.5B capital budget across the PG&E Territory). The NB PMO works closely with Service Planning & Design (SP&D), which owns the customer-facing experience. The NB PMO uses the production system to ensure customer work is efficiently following through intake, design, dependencies, scheduling, execution and construction. Together, supporting PG&E’s True North Strategy by ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and with a positive customer impact.

 

 

Position Summary

Provides strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, analyses, and policy development.  Develop strategies to support programs and initiatives incorporating understanding of customer needs, industry direction, business impacts and company vision. Work with regulators, utility industry peers and/or internal departments to influence the company and/or regulatory and industry efforts around current and future priorities, funding constraints and future business needs. Influences company and/or regulatory and/or industry priorities considering inputs from customer research, business impacts and PG&E strategies and priorities. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the Bay Area of the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Undertakes assignments of the highest complexity and impact to PG&E. 
  • Coaches, mentors and trains others in strategy development and implementation of Lean tools and practices. 
  • Evaluates and develops new analytic methods and tools, processes, procedures for the department. Solves unique and complex strategic issues and problems, while developing and monitoring budgets and forecasts. 
  • Manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives. 
  • Works with all levels of leadership (up to and including EVP) across functions to influence decisions, develop ad hoc analysis, and presentations 
  • Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions. 
  • Continually applies and guides others to apply understanding of company goals and strategies. 
  • Supports PG&E’s General Rate Case, regulatory proceedings, data requests, and audits.
  • Collaborates and influences policy and program strategy at other utilities and regulatory agencies. 
  • Leads development of testimony on complex analysis and policy issues. 
  • Supervisor Responsibility- May provide direction and coaching to other Business Analysts and Program Managers.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Policy, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Public Policy, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience 
  • Job-related technical experience, 10 years
  • Ability to lead department wide modeling and data initiatives of the highest complexity and impact 
  • Ability to present highly complex data and findings to diverse audiences which may include upper management, industry and regulatory stakeholders
  • Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers, regulatory policy and policy strategy and development processes
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend improvements to gain efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ability to lead and implement key process improvements
  • Ability to integrate macro and micro economic factors and statistical analysis into decision making
