Over 6,500 coworkers in Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in Lean Methodology through the use of Visual Management in Operating Reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems and create standard work. Position Summary

 

This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

 

This position, under general direction, exercises judgment and discretion and is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Project duration is generally multi-year, requires significant risk management, and may include formal partnering agreements with outside firms.  Assignments will have high visibility, require extensive project management skills and often require specific discipline and areas of expertise.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

 

The salary range is:

 

CA Minimum, $153,828

CA Maximum, $197,628

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Determines that project objectives are achievable.
  • Provides guidance to engineering on producing complex risk and alternative analyses, studies and conceptual designs for presentation to project sponsor.
  • Oversees and administrates EPC contracts in accordance with ESC
  • Work Oversight Committee
  • Negotiates third party contracts, in support of other departments when appropriate.
  • Develops and champions company-wide best practices.
  • Make presentations to PG&E Officers as appropriate.
  • Arbitrates and resolves conflicts within the project.
  • Mentors and provide guidance to less experienced project managers.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or its equivalent in education and experience
  • 8 years of PG&E (9 years outside) experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction
  • Active PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

 

Desired:

  • Understands PG&E Electric Operations project lifecycles and understands defined roles and procedures of cross functional teams within that EO project lifecycle
  • Knowledge and use of Excel
  • Knowledge and experience with electric substations, gas and electric distribution and transmission projects
  • Fluent in the use of Project Management tools and current company tools, such as SAP Financials and Work Management modules and Microsoft Project Scheduling Software
  • Great communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to lead meetings effectively
