The Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) is a strategic function dedicated to driving procurement transformation, operational efficiency, and value creation across the organization. Within the Procurement organization, the PEC establishes best practices, standardizes processes, and leverages advanced analytics and market intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making. The PEC collaborates with all Procurement teams to enhance capabilities, improve performance, and optimize costs. Key focus areas include market intelligence and analytics, digital procurement transformation, risk management, supplier relationship management, governance, and capability development. 

 

Position Summary  

The Procurement Services Master Data, Senior role plays a key role in supporting the integrity, accuracy, and governance of procurement-related master data. This individual contributor is responsible for maintaining and improving data quality, supporting the optimization of data processes, and supporting procurement transformation initiatives through effective data management. 

 

This individual collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, IT, and Supply Chain, to support enforcement of data governance policies, support automation, and enhance reporting capabilities. This role requires experience in data management, strong analytical skills, and supporting procurement efficiency and decision-making. Key responsibilities include creation, maintenance, and governance of procurement master data while ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and compliance. 

 

The ideal candidate has a background in data management, and experience in data governance frameworks, data quality management, and process automation. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work headquarters. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.  This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.   

 

Pay Range display:  

Bay Area – $98,000 to $134,000 

 

  

Reporting Relationship 

  

The Procurement Services Master Data, Senior role will report to the Manager of Procurement Services Master Data. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Supports the creation, maintenance, and governance of procurement master data, including vendor, material, contract, and pricing data. 

  • Acts as the primary contact for questions, issues, and problems for multiple datasets. 

  • Supports improved data management maturity for multiple datasets by collaborating with other Data Stewards. 

  • Maintains and shares in-depth knowledge of how data is collected, maintained, and interpreted in the organization.  

  • Forms cross-functional teams to identify data management maturity issues and design business process improvements. 

  • Recommends and implements corrective measures on data quality issues that arise. 

  • Recommends and manages alerts and controls for improved data management maturity, and monitors and track data quality and compliance to data standards/policies. 

  • Participates in the establishment of business rules, policies, and standards for measurable data management maturity and implements appropriate tools to monitor maturity. 

  • Collaborates with Procurement SMEs to define metadata for subject data components. 

  • Defines and documents rules around data collection, storage, flow, and use for business processes. 

 

 

 

Background Qualifications 

  

Minimum 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS. 

  • 4 years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, reference (master) data management, and/or designing and implementing functional systems and data in a structured process. 

 

Desired 

  • Knowledge of data management best practices, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., SOX). 

  • Experience in business process mapping and design. 

  • Ability to work with complex, cross-functional teams. 

  • Proven experience improving data quality and more broadly data management maturity. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. 

  • Robust understanding of data governance landscape, processes, and design principles. 

  • Proficiency in business process mapping and design. 

  • Excellent relationship management, interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills. 

  • Prior experience working with ERP systems (i.e., SAP) and procurement platforms (i.e., Ariba)
