Position Summary

Strategy Leadership is responsible for strategy process facilitation to establish utility objectives, define the Company’s strategic agenda, and facilitate the strategic planning calendar. Incumbents assess cross-functional and line of business-specific industry trends and opportunities, including market/customer shifts, cost imperatives, technology disruptions, competitor performance and scenario development, and provide internal consulting to support line of business-specific strategy development and performance improvement, lead high-profile utility initiatives, incubate emerging business opportunities, and work cross-functionally to develop common fact-bases. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Leading the implementation of True North Strategy (TNS) initiatives, including business plan and key performance indicator development, and change management to enroll/engage the Company in TNS,
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on external trends that may affect the Company’s ability to meet established goals,
  • Identifying and analyzing emerging challenges and opportunities, assessing business impacts and offering solutions and frameworks to incubate new ideas, and

 

Coordinating and aligning subject matter experts on underlying assumptions that are core to PG&Es modeling and forecasting work.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​155,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​265,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​147,000

California Maximum: $252,000

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, monitors, analyzes, and reports on signposts that may affect the Company’s ability to meet its goals;
  • Identifies and analyzes emerging challenges and opportunities, assessing business impact and offering solutions.
  • Develops recommendations on how the Company can position itself to take advantage of opportunities and proactively adjust and prepare for challenges, mitigating risks.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts across the Company to develop and manage execution plans for key strategic initiatives

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or job-related field or equivalent related work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience with steady progression of responsibilities
  • 2 years of leadership experience

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or job-related field
  • Utility, energy or regulatory industry experience
  • Consulting experience
  • Experience establishing program dashboards, key performance health indicators
  • Strong presentation skills
  • On-depth knowledge of technical and professional concepts related to strategy and planning
  • Exceptional understanding of the energy landscape
  • Knowledge of process improvement and driving change
  • Ability to synthesize complex information – both quantitative and qualitative, and deliver impactful presentations to influence change
  • Ability to influence and build relationships, especially on cross-functional teams
