Department Overview

PG&E’s Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Services (CRESS) organization is responsible for governing, planning, acquiring, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining 8 million square feet (sq. ft.) of facilities throughout PG&E’s 72,000 square mile service territory.  These facilities include but are not limited to service centers, data centers, contact centers, office buildings, shops, warehouses, construction and equipment yards, vehicle maintenance garages, and meeting and training facilities.

 

Position Summary

Manages the program management standards & processes and provision of support functions for all CRESS managed projects. Oversees development of project management best practice processes, standards, and reporting within a center of excellence to successfully deliver business results and value in program and project execution. Support functions include design oversight, project controls and reporting, and processes and standards development.

 

 Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a team of Regional Project Planners and CRESS architects to deliver the following:
    • Site master plans
    • Design standards for all CRESS managed facilities
    • Master specifications
    • Consistent and predictable project schedules
    • Permitting and entitlement requirements and approvals
    • Gathering and aligning construction project requirements
  • Develops consistent and standardized space planning models, identifying key requirements, such as size, layout, adjacencies, technology, security and design elements to achieve efficiency, cost effectiveness, and timely availability.
  • Establishes site planning roadmap that aligns to the CRESS capital project forecast 2026-2030.
  • Develops processes and standards for cost estimating and cost control to accurately provide conceptual budgets, detailed cost estimates, financial reporting and forecasting, and cost benchmarking. Ensures policies and procedures for project budgeting and cost reporting are developed and followed. Monitors, audits and takes action on cost variances as appropriate.
  • Ensures Project Control deliverables are satisfied in manner that aligns with established guidelines, policies and procedures with regular audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures the change control process is executed on all projects.
  • Ensures the Project Planning team is kept current on regulations, space optimization methodology, building layout/footprints, design elements, corporate environments, aesthetics, department work requirements and interaction patterns, ADA, Title 24 and OSHA requirements.
  • Establishes and champions excellence in project planning capabilities: project management methodology, controls, tools, standards and metrics, project delivery and project governance. Develops and executes education strategy to equip the Project Planning team. Provides coaching & mentoring on practical application of the framework. Supports the Project Planning team in pre-project planning and project execution.
  • Establishes metrics, benchmarks and key performance indicators to ensure that the projects are effectively aligning with the master strategic plans.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends in best practices, techniques and approaches in program management.
  • Manages a portfolio of initiatives and provides relationship management with senior leadership.
  • Manages Project Planning controls and reporting, design standards and project coordination (7 staff). Also provides oversight on service level delivery of 10-15 alliance partner resources in occupancy planning, process and standards, and Program Management support functions. Provides clear and direct guidance to a team of analysts and project support team members.
  • Oversees vendor/contractor relationships involved in planning & delivery of client solutions: maintains preferred provider lists, monitors processes for selections of suppliers and audit results and performance: architects, engineers, planning and design consultants, project managers, construction managers, inspectors, and/or other applicable professionals.
  • Owns the effective interpretation and implementation of enterprise workplace standards. Develops and implements new enterprise design standards.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages the strategic, short- and long-range planning, and day-to-day operations and activities of the CRESS project planning function.
  • Works with alliance partner to manage service levels, delivery standards and processes for project planning support services (systems, reporting, and tools). Leads the creation of project plans that clearly define project scope, assumptions, risks and overall project approach including project resource needs, high level timelines and stakeholder engagement and communications.

 

 The position is hybrid and will work partially from your home office, with on-site days at the Oakland General Office as business needs require. The successful candidate can live anywhere within the PG&E service territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.   

 

Pay Range display:

Bay Area – $155,000 to $231,000 annually

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in project planning, project management, corporate real estate, or related, 10 years
  • Experience in dealing with various jurisdictions in Northern California permitting, entitlements, site due diligence including environmental and CEQA requirements

Desired:

 

  • Masters Degree in Architecture or  job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in real estate development
  • Experience in program management, large-scale
  • Experience as Project Manager
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
  • LSS-Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Professional Architect license
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • Process Improvement certification
