Position Summary

The Vegetation Management Senior Manager of Data Management is accountable for oversight and governance of PG&E VM data management activities. Directs teams responsible for data governance, data quality, business intelligence, data modeling, records management, as well as partnering with IT to manage data solutions.  Advances business ability to make data-driven decisions by improving accessibility, quality and us of information, as well as maturing analytical capabilities.  Responsible for aligning the business strategy, services, investment decisions, and delivery structures and processes with IT direction and objectives. Builds and maintains relationships with business unit partners for business requirements, issues resolutions, and sustained overall customer satisfaction.

Participates in technology planning, aligning business strategy with future vision of technology/data. Selects, develops, and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient operation of each function.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $155,000

Bay Area Maximum: $265,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $147,000

California Maximum: $252,000

  • This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
  • This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters is the Oakland General Office.

 

Responsibilities:

Management /Leadership (50% - 60%):

  • Manages implementation of data strategies to increase data management maturity
  • Responsible for the improvement of VM data quality, integrity and reliability
  • Translates VM business requirement and capability needs into comprehensive and integrated data management solutions
  • Manages the execution of data maturity activities identified in the data management strategy or roadmap
  • Ensures consistent, timely, and accurate data visualization and reporting
  • Supports VM records management activities
  • Accountable for the assessment of risks and the execution of plans to mitigate the risks
  • Develops and manages service-level agreements with IT partners
  • Provides oversight for crucial vendor relationships.
  • Provides and manages functional operational support and may provide 24x7 support
  • Manages a team of managers and supervisors
  • Ensures managers are meeting department objectives that are aligned with organization goals. Implements PG&E practices for staffing, EEO, diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention.
  • Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all projects and barriers are removed.
  • Ensures compliance with standards/regulations and governance processes
  • Manages and executes communications plans with multiple levels of business partners.
  • Communicates and champions the requirements necessary to execute the business portfolio.

Customer Relationship: (25% - 30%)

  • Acts as a liaison and conduit for information flow between operations teams, IT and appropriate external stakeholders; manages the efficient and effective resolution of issues.
  • Collaborates with other teams in the delivery and sharing of concepts to leverage across portfolios

Strategy: (5% - 10%)

  • Develops, prioritizes, coordinates, and communicates the goals and processes necessary for implementing the portfolio and critical projects
  • Reviews and recommends sourcing strategies for projects and works with business unit and appropriate IT personnel to ensure the distribution of resources and to set priorities based on business goals

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Typically, has at least one Manager and Supervisors as a direct report
  • Lead a competent, motivated, and qualified staff of employees, which includes performance management, development, coaching, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Establishes Development Plans for Managers and supervisors
  • Provides performance feedback and guidance to staff
  • Achieve results through others by setting and communicating goals and metrics, monitoring progress, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and reinforcing behaviors that drive high performance.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Minimum of B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, business administration, engineering, or other relevant field required.
  • Minimum of 8 or more years of experience in programming/systems analysis, project management, and IT strategy planning or other related areas required

Desired:

  • M.S. or M.B.A. degree in business administration or computer science.
  • PMP or other project management certification.
  • Leading IT project teams or evaluating new business opportunities in various environments is highly desired.
  • Experience managing highly specialized, high-impact, complex projects, systems, and teams.
  • Experience in the Utility industry, particularly in Vegetation Management.
  • Prefer operational experience.
  • Solid skills with technology solutions that streamline business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain necessary trade-offs and balances between immediate and tactical needs or issues with PG&E leaders.
