Department Overview

Enterprise Health and Safety (EH&S) consists of PG&E’s Regional Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation and Contractor Safety, PG&E’s Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS), Enterprise Corrective Action Program (eCAP), and PG&E Academy. The team collaborates with our enterprise partners to implement safety programs to support the regional safety model, workforce safety (including contractor safety), public safety and transportation safety. PG&E Academy ensures our coworkers have the knowledge and skills to safely and compliantly perform their work through strategically developed and delivered training programs. 

 

Position Summary

PG&E Academy is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer to join our PG&E Academy Curriculum Development Team. This role works closely with the development team and clients to develop and maintain the learning content, tools, systems, and programs that support our employee’s ability to safely and efficiently perform their work and tasks. This is accomplished via a wide range of methodologies, delivery mechanisms and formats to meet specific business needs. The Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts as well as internal and external stakeholders to translate business and performance objectives into learning and performance support solutions and to ensure that employees are trained to competence.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​95,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​143,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs analysis, review existing learning options, and facilitate discussions to recommend cost-effective learning and performance support solutions that meet business requirements, support change objectives, and align with industry best practices.
  • Work across lines of business to complete cross functional, complex, high priority learning solutions. Requires developing recommendations and presenting to functional leadership.
  • Lead and oversee the design and development of eLearning, instructor-led training, and performance support for technical, compliance, and system solutions in collaboration with subject matter experts and other Academy team members.
  • Manage the assignment and quality of design work to ensure that the learning solution is on time, on target and on budget. Establish and hold others accountable to quality standards.
  • Monitor and report out on learning effectiveness and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide coaching and support to other designers.
  • Provide project management, including, but not limited to, defining the project scope, estimating and managing timeline, budget, and resources, and providing project updates. Ensure accurate reporting of status and forecasts of managed projects.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Liberal Arts, or related degree /field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 or more years of Instructional Design or Communications or Teaching or Training or experience required. Experience in designing and developing curriculum for cross-functional projects.
  • Experience working on small to mid-size projects and/or training programs

Desired:

  • A strong working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies for eLearning, classroom or virtual environments.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more of the following applications/systems is preferred: MS Office 365, Articulate 360, QuestionMark, SAP Enable Now and web design tools
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor others
  • Ability to present learning solutions and recommendations to client and team members and negotiate for win-win solutions
