Department Overview
Electric Transmission & Distribution ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Transmission & Distribution Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Position Summary
As a Senior within Compliance Maturity Model (CMM) team, you will provide support for the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of core CMM elements. You will maintain the consolidated inventory of compliance requirements, support requirement prioritization and horizon scanning for new and changed requirements, and ensure consistent application of monitoring, auditing, and investigation processes across Electric Compliance. This role serves as a technical resource, partnering with requirement owners, compliance leaders, and operational teams to promote disciplined compliance practices and strengthen the overall maturity of the compliance program.
Position duties may include but are not limited to-
• Maintain the consolidated and accessible inventory of compliance requirements within the approved compliance tracking tool, ensuring accuracy and timely updates
• Support the documented process for monitoring, identifying, and integrating new or changed compliance requirements
• Group compliance requirements into logical categories and support mapping these requirements to operational processes and compliance risks.
• Apply the Compliance Requirement Prioritization Methodology (RISK-4115S) and support the categorization of requirements into critical, high, medium, and low priority tiers
• Support structured horizon scanning activities to identify emerging regulatory issues or changes that may impact Electric Compliance
• Assist in the programmatic management of shared compliance requirements across multiple functions and teams
• Support governance activities by ensuring requirement owners understand their responsibilities and have access to necessary documentation and guidance
• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of processes or systems used to regularly monitor and track compliance performance
• Maintain evidence requirements for Electric Compliance’s end-to-end processes and associated compliance requirements
• Support initiatives that promote an ethical and compliant culture across Electric Compliance
Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory between Oakland, Rocklin, Fresno or Sacramento, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.
Position will require 3 days per week at a PG&E office.
Incumbent should expect to travel on an as needed basis for business needs.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Oakland, Rocklin, Fresno or Sacramento).
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$105,000
Bay Area Maximum:$169,000
OR
California Minimum:$100,000
California Maximum: $161,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
• Leads the team in developing controls and mitigation plans and ensures they are implemented and effective.
• Performs and oversees compliance and control testing, audits, or other validation processes and analyzes risk or compliance metrics.
• May respond to regulatory data requests, investigations, audits, and other inquiries.
• Identifies new/changing requirements or standards and ensures programs and tools are updated accordingly.
• Verifies reports, audits documentation, and validates content in database / risk register.
• Participates in or may lead root cause analysis exercises.
Qualifications-
Minimum:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of relevant experience
Desired:
• Experience within the utility industry or within a highly regulated environment
• Experience with compliance tracking systems, monitoring tools, or audit-related workflows
• Training or certification in compliance, auditing, process improvement, or related fields (such as Lean/Six Sigma)
• Experience performing or supporting compliance investigations, cause evaluations, or risk-based audit planning
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental sciences, public policy, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Five or more years of experience in compliance, risk management, regulatory affairs, or utility operations
• Strong knowledge of California and federal regulatory programs and familiarity with regulatory compliance concepts
• Demonstrated ability to support compliance reviews, monitoring activities, and documentation development with accuracy and consistency
• Strong skills in program coordination, process management, and internal consulting
• Ability to analyze compliance requirements, identify risks, and support corrective action planning
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to convey information clearly to stakeholders across the organization
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing business needs
