Department Overview

The Transportation Safety department focuses on reducing motor vehicle safety risks for our coworkers and the public through our motor vehicle safety program. We maintain industry leading compliance with DOT/CHP transportation and regulations by applying cross functional, sustainable controls and monitoring systems. Our Motor Vehicle Safety team manages company standards, processes and procedures associated with PG&E’s Motor Vehicle Safety Program, and is responsible for motor vehicle incident classifications, reviews and reporting. 

 

Position Summary

Designs, develops, implements, and oversees motor vehicle safety programs in accordance with Enterprise Health & Safety department strategy which includes program marketing and immersion of programs at PG&E to change or improve employee and public safety outcomes. Manages activities associated with motor vehicle safety programs including planning, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting effectiveness of such programs. Responsible for organizing, leading, and facilitating cross-functional teams as well as communicating programs. Works with Safety & Health leaders to strategize and execute program initiatives; supports execution by providing tools to leadership. Delivers presentations and training courses, as needed. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the Bay Area of the PG&E Service Territory. Oakland or San Ramon preferred. Position requires reporting to the office at least once per month. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $122,000
Bay Maximum: $194,000

CA Minimum: $116,000
CA Maximum: $184,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage motor vehicle incident reporting, classification, and review incidents requested for re-evaluation and classification changes.
  • Support PG&E’s telematics program and data usage that informs decisions and enhancements to other programs.
  • Support drivers and leaders regarding questions and insights into what data and reports indicate.
  • Develops, implements, monitors and maintains programs, systems, policies and procedures required to ensure regulatory compliance and the overall safety and health of employees and the community.
  • Creates safety standards, procedures and guidance that meet regulatory compliance and represent best practices.
  • Recognizes, evaluates, recommends and implements PG&E Safety policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with Safety requirements.
  • Delivers presentations to senior leadership as well as communicating program philosophy, information, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and provides Safety training to Company employees, as needed.
  • Develops and implements programs including leading coordination and facilitation of program review sessions with leaders and/or functional groups to review costs, schedule and program effectiveness.
  • Promotes programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of safety, accident/incidents and regulatory compliance 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of safety and program development/management experience in a construction, utility, or industrial environment, or master’s degree in safety specific area and 5 years of safety and program development experience in a construction, utility, or other industrial environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent of working time

 

Desired:

 

  • Experience implementing motor vehicle safety technology systems
  • Experience working with large fleet operations
  • Experience with Telematic systems and data analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with in-cab camera technology
  • Experience writing standards and procedures 
  • Utility industry experience and familiarity with the types of vehicles operated
  • Safety professional certification, for example, CIH, CSP, CHMM
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Ability to organize clear and concise presentation points and deliver these in an informative, engaging, and articulate manner
  • Ability to solve problems, taking into account the strategic and operational perspective
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus, project achievement/management and cross-functional collaboration/ teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, results orientated environment
  • Ability to think and work independently using a wide range of resources
  • Knowledge of incident investigation analysis and corrective action plan development/management
  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point skills
