Department Overview
The Revenue Requirements and Cost Recovery department is an integral part of PG&E’s Finance organization. We play a pivotal role in financial analysis, financial modeling, and cost recovery. Our vision is to provide value-added financial insights and regulatory expertise to PG&E and our customers. Our team prepares forecasts, regulatory proposals, and testimony for timely recovery of approximately $20 billion in costs annually across multiple regulatory jurisdictions. We take pride in enabling informed decision making for our partners across PG&E through robust financial modeling and strategic analysis. Our team is also in a unique position to interface with CPUC and FERC staff, and other external stakeholders.

Position Summary
The Regulatory Finance Analyst will work in our Regulatory Finance and Cost Recovery group. You will assist in the development of critical analysis, validate forecast assumptions and recorded expenses, contribute to cost recovery proposals, and participate in process improvement initiatives. You should possess general analytical skills, be meticulous and have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and persuasive manner.
The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1-2x per week or based on business needs to company requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Acts as a witness assistant, including writing sections of testimony; developing work papers and exhibits; preparing technical content of less complex data responses; reviewing, analyzing and summarizing third party testimony, regulatory proposals, pleadings, agreements and decisions; and assisting in developing or revising proposals and analyses for submittal in regulatory proceedings.
- Analyzes data on existing basic models and analytical tools to develop existing and ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles. Assist in preparing presentation of results.
- Assists with development and documentation of processes, guidelines, standards, and models. Assists with continuous improvement projects.
- Conducts research to provide historical context regarding regulatory issues or assists in providing such context for complex regulatory issues.
- Establishes cross-organizational relationships.
- Assists in identifying interrelations and linkages of revenue requirements to previous/related regulatory decisions.
- Assists in preparation of analysis in support of emerging issues related to revenue requirements. Assists with solving basic problems with clear precedents or standards requiring integration of information from a variety of sources.
- Assists in the preparation of materials and/or communications for senior management, client organizations, and regulators.
- Assists in analyzing spending profiles and cost categories to understand how various costs and trends impact current and future cost of service.
- Assists in reviewing costs for consistency, timeliness and compliance with regulatory requirements. Supports validation of forecasts and analysis of assigned areas of responsibility to verify the overall accuracy of forecasts.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS/BA degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience
- 2 years of related work experience
- Proficient Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Basic knowledge of case management procedures and processes
Desired:
- Basic understanding of PG&E’s business model to perform cost of service forecasting and analysis for rate case filings and management decision support.
- Basic knowledge of GAAP, SEC, and FERC requirements
- Basic understanding of Utility ratemaking
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient presentation skills to effectively convey key messages to audiences and public forums
Compensation
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
