Department Overview

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

 

Position Summary

 

Oversees all facets of program implementation and operational activities, ensuring the program functions efficiently and effectively. Responsible for the development, execution, and management of the Hydro-specific 811 damage prevention program. Establishes and maintains standards, procedures, and communication protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal 811 requirements for underground utility protection. Develops and implements comprehensive communication plans for both internal and external stakeholders and delivers training and guidance to Hydro personnel regarding 811 protocols. Serves as the primary liaison between Hydro Operations, Operations & Maintenance teams, Licensing, and external agencies—including FERC, state regulators, and tribal entities—to facilitate timely notifications and responses to excavation requests.

 

This position is flexible throughout the service territory with Oakland as the preferred headquarters. Final headquarters will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $ 122,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 194,000.00

 

OR

 

Minimum Base Salary (California)           $ 116,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)          $ 184,000.00

  • Develops new or revises existing scopes of work to ensure compliance standards and deliverables are established.
  • Travel may be required.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business.
  • 8 years of related experience or equivalent

 

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Program Management.
  • Ability to influence leaders inside and outside of the department through data analysis, insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
  • Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Primarily office environment with extensive use of personal computers, telephone conversations, conference calls and in person meetings.
