Department Overview

In Customer Care we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers. Everything we do starts with the customer and our information about the customer. That information is collected and managed by our Customer Experience Strategy group. Each of our organizations, though completely dependent upon each other, are the experts in their area and will further drive PG&Es alignment around the customer.

 

Position Summary

Leading California to a future of clean energy starts from within. We will accomplish this through the innovation and modernization of various systems into an integrated and more advanced system to better serve our customers.

 

The core of this work involves a major revamp and consolidation of our Meter-To-Cash (MTC), Customer Care and Billing (CC&B), Advanced Billing Systems (ABS), and our Meter Data Management tools.

 

This complex challenge is anticipated to span 3 – 4 years during the initial testing and eventual production and implementation phases.

 

For this project to succeed, we will need critical and dedicated resources who are creative, collaborative, energetic and analytical in proposing system solutions for our Customer Care and IT organizations. They are also responsible for analyzing business needs, defining detailed requirements, making recommendations to update/modify business processes or IT solutions and validating the recommended solutions with the leaders within various lines of business.

 

These individuals will be viewed as an integral strategic partner and business liaison in technology decisions who understand business content, procedures, processes, and systems for various corresponding business units.

 

Functional Area for this Product Owners: 

 

Customer Billing & Rates, specifically Bill Print and Supplemental Bill 

 

  • Deep understanding of Rates and Programs as designed in Oracle Utilities (Customer Service & Billing), including usage and bill calculation details
  • Understanding of the complexities of data flow and data mapping from billing system to Bill Print extraction process for integration with Kubra (or equivalent system) for Bill Print and mail
  • Understanding of downstream financial systems and processes for revenue reporting and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for third-party billing that rely on the same data

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $147,000.00

Bay Area Mid Base: $199,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $251,000.00

 

OR

 

California Minimum: $140,000.00

California Mid Base: $189,000.00

California Maximum: $238,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead Bill Print team through the Billing Modernization journey by leveraging new technologies while maintaining focus on customer experience and regulatory obligations
  • Support Bill Print team by prioritizing, troubleshooting and problem-solving data mapping and integration issues for downstream applications including bill print extraction, Kubra (or equivalent) bill print and mail application as well as downstream financial systems that rely on the same data
  • Solution, Technology, and Team focused person who serves as the customer proxy responsible for working with stakeholders to define and prioritize the work within the team. 
  • Content/Design Authority for their functional area – collaborate with system/solution architects to assist with decision making of critical technology that will host new business functionality.
  • Evaluate new product functionality to identify opportunities to replace previous customizations with base product solutions and increase project ROI.
  • Evaluate and document alternatives that will provide the most effective solutions to complex, possibly cross-functional business problems.
  • Identify, propose, and influence IT solutions to complex cross organizational business problems; negotiate requirements and deliverables across multiple lines of business.
  • Oversees the completion and acceptance of user stories that will be used to define the acceptance criteria and is consistent with scope of functional tests.
  • Partners with LOB SME’s and the respective leaders across the enterprise to gather feedback on existing functionality and introduce new products to meet business needs across PG&E.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members within their functional agile team.
  • Manages team workload and reallocates resources as needed to meet the goals of the work plan and meet commitments of the project iterations.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related experience, 7 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience as Product Owner, Agile environment, 5 years
  • Experience in Oracle Utilities (Customer Billing & Rates) and Kubra (Bill Print) is highly desired
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement of customer experience, both internal and external, as well as simplification of processes as we consolidate and modernize our Billing Systems by leveraging new technology
  • Ability to influence stakeholders to support changes that may be needed to increase future efficiencies and customer satisfaction
  • Attention to detail for troubleshooting and problem solving, collaborate with other workstreams to brainstorm ideal resolutions as quickly as possible
