The Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) is a strategic function dedicated to driving procurement transformation, operational efficiency, and value creation across the organization. Within the Procurement organization, the PEC establishes best practices, standardizes processes, and leverages advanced analytics and market intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making. The PEC collaborates with all Procurement teams to enhance capabilities, improve performance, and optimize costs. Key focus areas include market intelligence and analytics, digital procurement transformation, risk management, supplier relationship management, governance, and capability development.

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

The ideal intern candidate for the Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) brings strong business acumen and a curiosity for how data and insights drive organizational performance. The intern should have a foundational understanding of data analytics and research and be comfortable supporting metric and KPI visualization efforts, as well as initiatives to strengthen how performance is measured and reported. Success in this role also requires clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Research & Insights – Support Procurement initiatives by conducting research, analyzing data, and developing insights that inform decision‑making, performance measurement, and improvement efforts.

 

Operating Reviews, Metrics & Lean Management Support - Support Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Operating Reviews (DORs/WORs/MORs) by helping track metrics, validate inputs, and prepare summaries and visuals used for leadership discussion. Monitor metric submissions and proactively follow up with users or teams who have not entered required data, including sending reminders and escalating issues as needed. Support Lean and continuous improvement efforts by helping gather baseline data, track improvements, and visualize results over time.

 

Knowledge Management & Organization - Help organize, clean up, and maintain SharePoint sites, document libraries, and repositories to improve accessibility and version control.

 

Stakeholder & Team Enablement -  Assist with preparation of materials for operating reviews, leadership meetings, training sessions, and team communications. Support cross‑functional collaboration by coordinating inputs, synthesizing updates, and following up on requests as needed.

 

Strategic Enablement - Provide targeted, cost‑effective support across policy and procedural documentation, database and repository maintenance, supplier research, and the development of white papers and reference materials to support Procurement initiatives.

 

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $36.42.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Data Analysis or a related field at an accredited University.
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship.

 

Desired:

  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • LEAN system knowledge
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
