Department Overview
The Commercial Growth team (CG) is responsible for accelerating affordable growth by enabling strategic commercial development opportunities and delivering an exceptional customer experience across PG&E's service territory. The organization serves as the front door for strategic customers by providing proactive engagement, strategic consultation, and coordinated support through the customer journey.
Position Summary
The SPM is a customer-facing, growth-focused role responsible for building and scaling strategic customer relationships by setting priorities, driving growth, leading strategic initiatives, and orchestrating a seamless One PG&E end-to-end customer experience across internal teams. It serves as the strategic lead for a portfolio of complex strategic customers and acts as a trusted advisor to customers while coordinating resources across PG&E to advance customer growth objectives.
This role requires strong business acumen, executive presence, relationship management expertise, and the ability to influence outcomes across multiple organizations without direct authority.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. Travel of 25% may be required, including travel outside of PG&E’s service territory.The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader. Preferred work location is Oakland, CA.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.00
Bay Area Midpoint: $194,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $244,000.00
And/or
California Minimum: $137,000.00
California Midpoint: $184,000.00
California Maximum: $232,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary lead for customer growth relationships, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional coordination across PG&E to deliver a seamless end-to-end experience.
- Drive commercial growth by pursuing strategic initiatives, pilot programs, electrification opportunities, and new business opportunities with existing and prospective customers.
- Develop and execute Account Growth Plans that identify, prioritize, and advance near- and long-term growth opportunities.
- Own and deliver growth targets across portfolio of work.
- Maintain a "one-to-many" communication model that ensures transparency, consistency, and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Engage executive sponsorship and senior‑level engagement to ensure alignment, transparency, and momentum on key accounts
- Coordinate and support Joint Operating Reviews (JORs) and other governance forums in partnership with Program Managers, Technical Advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and detailed customer records within CRM systems and ensure data quality standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 10 or more years of industry-related experience required
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience preferably in customer relationship management, account management, business development, strategic planning, sales, economic development, utility operations, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience managing large, complex customer portfolios.
- Experience managing executive-level customer relationships and influencing complex stakeholder groups.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver results in highly matrixed environments.
- Knowledge of utility operations, infrastructure development, electric and gas service processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Industry expertise and market knowledge within the specific vertical.
- Strong strategic planning and business development skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across multiple organizations.
