Department Overview

PG&E IT is a unified organization composed of various departments which collaborate effectively to plan, deliver, and operate high quality technology solutions. The Geographic Information System Center of Excellence (GIS CoE) has the responsibility for maintaining and operating IT GIS applications that support Gas, Electric, Power Generation, IT Fiber, and other functional areas while also delivering IT projects and solutions in support of company business goals and priorities.

 

Position Summary

As the Elevate Program Manager you will be instrumental in executing the largest geospatial technology program in PG&E’s history. The tagline of the Elevate program is enabling geospatial intelligence to power our future. As the Head Program Manager, you will help lead internal IT and external program resources, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and application owners to drive the implementation of a modern and scalable enterprise-wide GIS.

 

The successful candidate will help:

  • Execute the Elevate Program with quality, scope, schedule, and budget being paramount
  • Oversee all technical workstreams for Elevate (Esri configuration/development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, architecture, data)
  • Lead the technical delivery of design and several releases that will span from 2025 to 2029
  • Implement a spatial-data ecosystem that ensures consistency, reliability, compliance, customer satisfaction, and unlocks real value
  • Ensure that there is alignment of the technical solution to business objectives and changes.

 

The ideal candidate should have a long history of helping deliver GIS projects and programs and experience with Esri’s Utility Network (UN) Model.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

Pay range: $140,000.00 - $207,900.00

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office at our Oakland Headquarters based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead large GIS programs approximately with $5M-$50M annual budgets (may exceed $100M annually)
  • Coordinate with other Program/Project Managers in parallel workstreams
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for IT programs and projects including setting project goals, timelines, and performance metrics to ensure successful delivery
  • Manage program and project budgets, ensuring financial resources are used efficiently and projects are completed within the allocated budget
  • Identify potential risks to the success of projects and develop comprehensive mitigation plans to address these risks proactively
  • Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and effective communication among team members from different departments to achieve project objectives
  • Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, changes, and any issues that arise, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives
  • Plans Officer-level engagement events and other significant events with key leaders
  • Track project milestones and assess the performance of projects to ensure they meet the set objectives and deliver the expected outcomes
  • Ensure project teams have the necessary resources, including personnel, technology, and tools, for timely and efficient execution of their tasks
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, communication plans, risk logs, and status reports, to ensure all project information is accurately recorded and accessible
  • Ensure robust project governance to ensure compliance with internal audit requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of IT programs by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices
  • Provide General Rate Case (GRC) data request response support
  • Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material, and costs within standard PG&E tools
  • Exercise autonomy, independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years job-related experience or equivalent

 

Desired:

  • 5+ years Esri GIS Technology experience
  • 5+ years Electric and or Gas Utility experience
  • 3+ years of managing and being accountable for budgets exceeding $100M
  • Enterprise level deployments of Geospatial Technology
  • Experience in leading utility implementation of Esri GIS
  • Esri GIS implementation of 2,000+ users
  • Enterprise level deployments of GIS
  • Cloud deployment experience
