Department Overview

The Commercial Growth Organization, Economic Development is a dynamic team responsible for achieving breakthrough outcomes and delivering for PG&E’s largest hometowns and governmental infrastructure initiatives.

 

As part of this team, you will work with a group of large governmental/state customers to help them achieve their interconnection and utility relocation goals. This will include coordinating program status across organizations to provide monthly operating reviews to the customer, coordinating aspects of PG&E’s study process, performing tariff application reviews, writing contracts, solving unique problems, and supporting process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate must be self-driven, nimble, and able to work under ambiguity. 

 

Position Summary

This position is hybrid (0-3 days per week in office), working from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office, San Jose Office, or Dublin office to attend team meetings or as business needs require.

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum to the midpoint of the range.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.00

Bay Area Midpoint: $194,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $244,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide programmatic and portfolio leadership for High-Speed Rail Authority, Caltrain, and Department of Defense accounts, supporting interconnection and utility relocation activities and advancing solutions that align customer needs with PG&E objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across system planning, land, project management, new business, legal, environmental, work planning, resource management, and other internal organizations to support timely and effective program delivery.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level program updates, recommendations, and issue-resolution options for officers, senior leadership, customers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate monthly joint operating reviews, including consolidated reporting on project status, milestones, risks, decisions, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Identify and evaluate customer growth opportunities that support expanded operations and economic development within PG&E’s service territory.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex program issues by developing recommendations, escalating risks as appropriate, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage complex, cross-functional programs with broad organizational scope and significant financial, operational, customer, or political impact; establish program strategy, goals, work plans, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Establish and monitor program performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting processes to provide visibility into performance, risks, issues, and required decisions.
  • Monitor program costs, expenditures, forecasts, and resource requirements against approved plans; prepare variance analyses, funding requests, and recommendations to support financial and productivity objectives.
  • Partner across departments and regions to ensure work is appropriately planned, scheduled, resourced, and executed; address constraints, reallocate resources, and mitigate delivery risks as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned programs, supporting process improvement initiatives, regulatory filings, stakeholder forums, data requests, and other program-related response activities.
  • Develop and implement communication, training, and change-management plans to promote consistent application of program policies, safety procedures, controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less-experienced employees; lead work teams or cross-functional groups in support of program objectives.
  • Travel may be required based on business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 10 years

 

Desired:

  • Experience in maintenance and construction, electric
  • Experience managing capital expense budgets/projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of utility operations and work execution processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PMP certification and / or MBA with an emphasis in a quantitative (e.g. Finance) or analytical discipline
  • Prior experience managing programs of high complexity and political visibility
  • Prior experience developing partnerships with external stakeholders for work execution
