The Procurement Organization includes a staff of more than two hundred sourcing managers, buyers, analysts, and supplier diversity personnel. The Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) is a strategic function dedicated to driving procurement transformation, operational efficiency, and value creation across the organization. Within the Procurement organization, the PEC establishes best practices, standardizes processes, and leverages systems, advanced analytics, and market intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making. The PEC collaborates with all Procurement teams to enhance capabilities, improve performance, and optimize costs. Key focus areas include systems, market intelligence and analytics, digital procurement transformation, risk management, supplier relationship management, governance, and capability development.

 

Position Summary

The Business System Specialist (BSS):

· Functions as a liaison to Information Technology from the Procurement Organization, representing the end users and business process owners in business system requirements, implementations, and support.

· Understands user needs as well as business procedures, processes, and systems for the Procurement Organization.

· Defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing of new tools and consults with the users on new technologies and features that may contribute to business process efficiencies.

· May also perform feasibility analysis, develop project scope, and provide recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization.

· Prepares and delivers business users’ system needs to Information Technology and represents user needs in the development of functional specifications.

· Develops, maintains, and supports Procurement systems, tools, data, dashboards, and reports to support the Procurement organization in its performing and monitoring of day-to-day activities, programs, and initiatives.

· Supports development and implementation of a Procurement technology roadmap.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A Reasonable Salary Range:

Bay Area – $132k-$196,900

And/or

California - $125,000-$187,000

 

Job Responsibilities

· Provide expert consultation on business and user needs. Understands current and future business environment; in detail, to effectively anticipate, identify and fully meet the business needs.

· Analyze end-to-end, complex business processes and coordinate with IT to develop and implement solutions to information needs. Advises on the impact(s) of technical changes to cross-functional processes.

· Identify, propose and influence solutions and define & document business requirements to complex business problems.

· Lead necessary training, change management and communications associated with system implementations.

· Anticipate user concerns and questions, and provide proactive, timely and professional communications or delegate as appropriate.

· Provide a key contribution to business cases for complex and cross functional projects and initiatives. Develop supporting materials to justify investment.

· Support the production and implementation of the multi-year Procurement technology roadmap.

· Act in a Governance role for user and business communications related to suggested technology enhancements. Lead and facilitate technology governance meetings.

· Ensure all technologies comply with internal governance, security and compliance standards.

· Provide oversight and high-level review of UAT results.

· Provide leadership on the business analysis work that has strategic importance for the corresponding IT organization.

· Keep abreast of best practices and trends in Procurement systems and applications through attendance/involvement in conferences, seminars, or forums.

· Stay informed on SAP Ariba updates and new features. Assess optional features and make recommendations for implementation.

· Provide subject matter expertise on Ariba capabilities and promote best practices.

· Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced employees.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

· BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.

· 10 years of job-related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.

· Extensive participation in projects of high complexity or simultaneous participation in multiple projects of medium to high complexity in a leading role.

· Knowledge of the Procure-to-Pay process.

· Deep understanding of Ariba modules

 

Desired

· SAP Ariba certification

· Knowledge or experience with SOX and/or procurement compliance requirements.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

· Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple functional areas within the enterprise.

· Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
