Position Summary
The Operations Data Analyst extracts operational data for analysis, leadership support, and ad hoc data requests. The incumbent maintains operations tools and databases, ensuring that they are kept up to date using data from various PG&E systems. They develop, maintain, and enhance operational metric database tools for the broader analytics team(s). The Analyst identifies and resolves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast, consistent responses to leadership inquiries.
• PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manages data management projects from initial request through presentation of data results, ensuring that each project is completed within budget and on time.
• DATA PROCESSING: Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
• DATA EXTRACTS AND FILE TRANSFERS: Manages data extraction and transfer from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts.
• DATA ANALYSIS: Analyzes data using various statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, and profiles.
• REPORTING: Develops and communicates clear, concise, and actionable data analyses for clients.
This position follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be onsite one day per week in Oakland and one day per week in Dublin. Remaining workdays may be worked remotely based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed toward the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Mid-Point: $189,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000

CA Minimum: $133,000
CA Mid-Point: $180,000
CA Maximum: $226,000
Job Responsibilities
• Manages very complex data analysis projects with very limited supervision, from initial request through presentation of data results, ensuring that each project is completed within budget and on time.
• Acts as a thought leader by applying extensive data processing and data analysis expertise to the development of strategy or resolution of complex data issues. Creates very complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
• Manages major and complex cross-functional data projects that have broad company implications.
• Manages data extraction and transfer from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts.
• Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, and profiles.
• Develops comprehensive reports and analyses for long-term, company-wide issues. Presents and communicates clear, concise, and actionable data analyses for clients.
• Acts as team lead and provides direction to less experienced employees.
• May work with Senior Management to develop business-related strategy, leveraging data in decision-making.
Qualifications
Minimum:
• BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or another related field, or equivalent work experience
• 8 years of related work experience
Desired:
• Familiarity with utility operations.
• Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel/Access, including complex formulas, graphing, and VBA
• Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
• Advanced skill in UNIX shell programming (csh, awk, sed, vi).
• Develop statistical models to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in operational data sets
• Provide insights, data-driven recommendations, and peer coaching/mentorship to junior members of the data engineering team
• Strong knowledge of Base SAS and programming languages such as Visual Basic, Perl, and C
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills. Advanced communication and presentation skills to deliver highly complex data and findings to Senior Management.
• Expertise in project management to lead large, cross-functional projects and develop concise data findings for Senior Management.
• Master's degree
