Department Overview

 

The System Performance, Reliability and Resiliency Strategy team within the overall Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering organization is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the resources necessary to successfully execute PG&E’s Electric Reliability Strategy and initiatives. Within this department the Reliability Strategy team develops the overall reliability strategy to meet company targets. This strategy integrates current performance of reliability mitigations, predictive analytics, target forecasts and the project portfolio to identify needed work to deliver for PG&E’s customers.

 

Position Summary

 

Applies data analysis and operational analytics to support the development and execution of PG&E’s enterprise reliability strategy. Extracts, manages, and analyzes operational data to provide timely, accurate, and actionable insights that inform reliability performance, risk assessment, and decision-making across Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering.

 

Maintains and enhances operational data tools, databases, and reporting processes to ensure data is current, reliable, and accessible to stakeholders. Supports the development of automated data pipelines and reporting solutions used for performance monitoring, predictive analysis, and strategy execution. Identifies gaps in data availability and usability and contributes to improvements that enable more consistent and timely insights.

 

Collaborates with engineering, operations, and strategy teams to translate data into clear, actionable reports and recommendations. Supports project delivery by contributing to data and analytics efforts from intake through analysis and presentation, ensuring alignment with reliability objectives and timelines. Participates in continuous improvement of data processes, analytics capabilities, and reporting frameworks to enhance system reliability and resilience outcomes.

 

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to report to their assigned office location at least two or three days per week. The remaining days may be worked remotely, depending on business needs. The headquarters is located in the Oakland General Office.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it may pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the job's locality.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired for this role will be placed toward the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis based on these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
 
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $90,000
Bay Area Mid-Point: $113,000
Bay Area Maximum: $136,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Extract, manage, and analyze operational data to support PG&E’s enterprise reliability strategy and related initiatives. 
•    Develop and maintain data pipelines, tools, and databases to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent delivery of reliability performance data. 
•    Implement and support automated data processes for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting to improve efficiency and data quality. 
•    Create and deliver standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and analyses that provide insights into reliability performance, trends, and risks. 
•    Support the integration of performance metrics, forecasts, and analytics into reliability strategy development and reporting processes. 
•    Manage assigned data and analytics tasks or projects from intake through completion, ensuring alignment with timelines and stakeholder needs. 
•    Identify and escalate data gaps, inconsistencies, or quality issues, and contribute to solutions that improve data availability and usability. 
•    Collaborate with engineering, operations, IT, and strategy teams to gather requirements and ensure data outputs meet business needs. 
•    Apply statistical and analytical techniques to develop actionable insights that inform operational and strategic decisions. 
•    Communicate analysis results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, supporting effective decision-making. 
•    Support data governance practices, including documentation, data validation, and adherence to established standards. 
•    Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance data processes, reporting capabilities, and overall analytics effectiveness.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
•    2 years of related work experience

 

Desired:

 

•    Familiarity with utility operations.
•    Skilled in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA)
•    Skilled in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
•    Experience in UNIX shell programming (csh, awk, sed, vi).
•    Knowledge of base-SAS and programming languages such as Visual Basic, Perl, and C
•    Able to analyze and interpret data and effectively communicate findings.
