Department Overview

The Operations Finance (formerly Business Finance) teams conduct financial analysis, budgeting, planning, forecasting, monitoring, performance metric reporting, and analysis to PG&E. They are the primary contact for all finance and accounting, operational performance, and budget and forecasting inquiries for functional areas within PG&E. Jobs in the Operations Finance Leadership job family provide management guidance and oversight to employees on the assigned Operations Finance team. 

The Finance Enterprise Reporting & Analytics team serves as the strategic partner across Operations Finance, their functional area partner teams, and the broader Finance organization to drive analytical reporting solutions. We specialize in reporting, visual management, and project analysis to mitigate risks and optimize process performance, serving our hometowns through financial stewardship and best practices. In addition, we are the Operations Finance team overseeing financials for the Office of the CEO as well as three Corporate Services functional areas: People (HR), General Counsel and Ethics, Risk, & Compliance (Legal), and Finance.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will join the Finance Enterprise Reporting & Analytics team as the Manager of Operations Finance – Corporate Services, leading a team of analysts with a focus on Financial Reporting for the Corporate Services functional areas. This role will be the key Finance leader for the People (HR), General Counsel and Ethics, Risk, & Compliance (Legal), and Finance organizations and will oversee budget planning, forecasting, and reporting support for these functional areas. The Manager of Operations Finance – Corporate Services will present to Officers and Directors regularly and will have a unique view and understanding of PG&E’s financial performance and strategic decisions that few below the Officer level are privy to.    

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office at least once a week (every Tuesday) and/or based on business needs. 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

  • Bay Area Min: $136,000
  • Bay Area Mid: $184,000
  • Bay Area Max: $232,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across the enterprise to drive high performance and execute business goals and priorities.
  • Lead a team of analysts, focusing on continuous improvement and skills development.
  • Leverage business knowledge to raise and analyze risks and implementation costs of potential path forward scenarios for functional areas, advising on operational performance management.
  • Provide expert financial advice and analyze functional area monthly financial results, briefing leadership on key cost drivers and other issues.
  • Act as the Investment Planning lead for the Corporate Services 5-year Business Plan Deployment Process, providing financial support for regulatory proceedings and assisting in financial planning for operational responses to CPUC decisions as needed.
  • Work closely with peer managers, other departments outside of Finance Enterprise Reporting & Analytics, and others across the enterprise leadership team on the assessment of value-creating improvements, including complex analysis and modeling.
  • Process improvements, including root cause analyses. 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or Finance; or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience leading and developing teams
  • 5 years in financial planning, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, or related experience 

Desired:

  • Ability to execute tactically as well as depict the whole idea/analysis strategically for Leadership teams across the enterprise, working independently
  • Comfort interfacing with higher levels of the organization when communicating results and making recommendations
  • Ability to synthesize research, provide perspective, and develop implications for various stakeholders
  • Strong, clear, and concise presentation and communication skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Understands utility accounting fundamentals and the PG&E cost model to consult on program issues
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Power BI
  • Passion for understanding stakeholder needs and requirements
  • Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP BW
  • MBA
  • CPA and/or CFA
