Department Overview

Manage Paralegal Team, supporting all areas of Law Department, including providing ongoing paralegal support and management of case work. The department supports all areas of conduct, litigation, employment charges, regulatory filings and compliance, contract negotiations, corporate filings, strategy and policy work and eDiscovery compliance.

 

Position Summary

Oversees management of the Paralegal Department. Performs, coordinates, and monitors all administrative functions including supervision of paralegal team, budget administration, and support within personnel matters. Supports the General Counsel's Department regarding strategic and administrative management responsibility. Provides strategic planning analysis on key business issues.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Bay Area Min: $132,000

Bay Area Mid: $179,000

Bay Area Max: $226,000

 

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management and oversight of paralegal team within PG&E’s Legal Department, including the support of case work to support the department.

• Coordinates with GCERC on enterprise initiatives (i.e.: employee engagement, surveys, succession planning, talent management, leadership training, performance appraisals, etc.)

• Conducts the monitoring, analysis, review, and reporting of paralegal and matter resource allocation and performance improvement plans.

• Solicits feedback and ensures internal staff support resources are appropriately aligned with the goals, objectives, and needs of attorneys. Engages external paralegal contractor support as required.

• Provides support to the VP, Enterprise Law in managing and seeking leverage opportunities regarding the paralegal support functions of the department.

• Builds and sustains relationships with other PG&E’s lines of business (LOB) to develop, share, and implement best practices, methodologies, and continuous improvement in the provision of paralegal support.

• Supports Law Department Diversity and Inclusion efforts and seeks opportunities for greater inclusion. • Acts as a supportive resource to other internal GC departments within PG&E.

 • Supports Leadership in improving the Department’s Employee Engagement efforts.

• Oversee special projects as required.

 

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience

• Eight (8) years of experience providing management support in a corporate law department, comparable corporate function, or law firm.

• Experience in legal operations, project management and/or program management experience

• Leadership experience, 2 years

 

Desired

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or equivalent experience

• Certification in Executive Management

• Certification in Lean Six Sigma (LSS)
