Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic leader to join our team at PG&E. Your primary focus will be to provide technical leadership and mentorship for our implementation of our Advanced Analytics Platforms. You will be primarily responsible for leading a team of high performing technical leads who will architect and help execute the development of workflows in Palantir Foundry.

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $159,000 - $215,000.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area Min: $ 159,000

Bay Area Mid: $ 215,000

Bay Area Max: $ 271,000

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office (OGO) based on business needs or company requirements. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Mentoring technical leads specializing in delivering data products, analytical products, and operational products within Palantir Foundry. The people you will be responsible for:
    • Leading technical implementations of individual Foundry workflows
    • Designing and architecting efficient Foundry workflows to meet business needs
    • Building data products in SQL, Python and Java
    • Modeling effective development approaches, productive working environments, and quality bars for team members
    • Understanding business requirements and modeling edge cases
    • Leading effective teams with diverse combinations of ICs such as testers, middleware experts, and business analysts
  • Building improved Foundry literacy among all users and developers in the ecosystem
  • Improving development efficiency across the org by implementing and improving agile delivery methodologies
  • Driving our overall Advanced Anatyics & Foundry strategy, including:
    • Architecture decisions about where to use Foundry, and how to interoperate Foundry with our other data ecosystem products
    • Working with Palantir to prioritize delivery of capabilities that will accelerate and improve PG&E’s ability to deliver value with the platform
    • Guiding PG&E product design decisions and technical feasibility assessments within Foundry using a superior knowledge of Foundry’s capabilities
    • Communicating your vision for Foundry’s place in the PG&E data ecosystem across the org
    • Prioritizing investments in Foundry workflows to meet business needs
    • Managing technical debt, and improving workflow efficiency in Foundry across the org
  • Designing and utilizing appropriate platform cost guardrails, creating and enforcing standards, and optimizing platform compute/storage usage

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 6 years of IT management or IT Architecture experience

 

Desired:

  • 10 years of experience in IT/Data Engineering working in application/workflow development and architecture, with 7 years project implementation experience and hands-on experience developing data products
  • 5 years experience designing solution architectures within Palantir Foundry, including data pipelining, data integration, data modeling, and application design
  • 5 years experience direct hands-on implementation of solutions within Palantir Foundry, including data pipelining, data integration, data modeling, and application design
  • Experience as Technical Lead, 5 years
  • Intermediate to Expert Level Data Engineering background including complex SQL, Spark and PySpark queries and data modeling experience.
  • Intermediate to Expert skills with streaming data products such as Flink and Kafka
  • Intermediate to Expert Level Development in Python and Java
  • Expert in the solution architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices
  • Deep understanding of underlying Foundry architecture and design
  • Proven track record of working with Palantir directly to troubleshoot problems or drive feature prioritization
  • Experience providing operational support for high-availability applications, including experience designing operational support regimes
  • Experience directing and mentoring architects, developers, business analysts and testers
  • Experience working with middleware and SaaS vendors designing and implementing API contracts, especially using REST
  • Experience working with cybersecurity architectures such as PKI and TLS
  • Experience working as an Agile/Technical Lead in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of ML modeling within or outside Foundry a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong work ethic
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including in detailed and clear writing
  • Able to build strong relationships with and influence at the Director level of leadership
  • Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace
  • Able to further community & elevate team performance
  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the role and has strong sense of ownership
