Department Overview

Accounts Payable (AP) is the primary cash disbursement organization in the Company. The organization is responsible for the adequate cash disbursement controls to prevent fraud and theft. 

Position Summary

The Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for ensuring the effective, efficient, and accurate operation of all systems and processes related to accounts payable activities. This role emphasizes achieving high levels of automation and maintaining low error rates. You will oversee teams responsible for vendor payments for goods and services as well as employee expense reimbursements. The team comprises three units dedicated to AP systems, AP accounting, and AP controls. You will provide leadership and oversight to staff supporting departmental operations across functions. Additionally, this position serves as the primary point of contact for the business continuity plan and offers support during emergency operations.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office, 1-3 days, on average, based on business needs or company requirements.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

  • Bay Area Mid: $158,000
  • Bay Area Max: $194,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops a team of qualified employees, with a high degree of business understanding and client focus that completes deliverables on time, within budget, and according to client requirements and expectations.
  • Evaluates, prioritizes, and implements system and technology enhancements to improve Accounts Payable in support of PG&E’s technology roadmap.
  • Manages Accounts Payable operations. Possesses strong SAP FI / MM knowledge including Concur, Taulia, and Ariba products.
  • Meets with employees on a regular basis to provide guidance and coaching to ensure goals, deliverables, and operational metrics are achieved. Promotes a cooperative team environment and coach’s staff on new business procedures, customer service, commitment management, and quality.
  • Prepares written employee evaluations and provides feedback to direct reports. Establish and monitor professional development plans for each direct report.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to reduce costs, increase accuracy, and improve client service.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate internal controls for Accounts Payable. Ensure compliance with all external laws and regulations and internal polices and controls.
  • Develop long and short-term strategies and plans for Accounts Payable.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains company-wide Accounts Payable policies, practices, procedures, goals, operating plans, and schedules.
  • Ensures accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation and filing of required Accounts Payable related to federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external business partners, clients, and constituents.
  • Demonstrates LEAN methodology knowledge.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Mathematics, Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of recent relevant work experience

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • APM-Accredited Payables Manager Certification
