Department Overview

                                                                             

Land Management includes a staff of approximately 200 land managers, surveyors, land rights and acquisition specialists. Our goal is to ensure that PG&E’s lands are well-managed, and our property rights are protected, that we work closely with state and federal regulators to protect the unique landscapes and environmental resources found on these properties, and that we acquire and comply with all environmental permits required to conduct activities on these properties. Our work requires close integration between our team of planners, land specialists, and environmental scientists, as well as with law and environmental.

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

Land Acquisition is looking for talented summer interns to help provide safe and efficient land acquisition services for our customers. Under the supervision of experienced land acquisition leadership, interns will work as a member of the Land Acquisition team performing duties such as:

 

  • Prepare acquisition documents such as Transaction Summary Letters, Nominal Offer Rational (NOR), and other related acquisition documents.
  • Engage in non-complex negotiations for temporary land rights.
  • Research and identify comparable sales and identify a price per square foot/fair market value for nominal transactions ($15,000 or less)
  • Research Property Owner information and enter information into Salesforce.
  • Facilitate tasks to support the overall acquisition process.
  • Engage with other functional areas throughout Land Management to learn various aspects of Land Management as a whole.
  • Manage land payment tracker to gain better understanding of land and damage settlements.
  • Attend daily operation review (DOR) meetings to discuss project escalations and company highlights.
  • Attend project meetings
  • Attend in office collaboration days twice a month in either the Fresno, Sacramento or Oakland General Office depending on land acquisition team assignment.
  • Attend project site visits to experience gas and electric projects firsthand and see what land rights the project team requires to commencing with construction.

 

Summer Intern: M-F, 40 hrs/week

HQ and Work Location: Locations may include Sacramento, Oakland, and/or Fresno, CA 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $34.07.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate Development, Political Science or a related field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship

 

Desired:

  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
